BANDUNG, unpas.ac.id – Government, represented by Minister of Education, Culture, Research and Technology, Nadiem Makarim allows university in the regions of Level 1-3 PPKM to hold a limited face-to-face learning process.
Since last July 2021, Rector of Universitas Pasundan Prof. Dr. Ir. H. Eddy Jusuf Sp, M.Si., M.Kom., IPU has already implemented a hybrid learning with 50% capacity, but it was prioritized for experience-learning-based subjects only, such as laboratory practice, studio and field practice/course.
Although Bandung Emergency State of PPKM is already on Level 3, Unpas should still stick and follow to the provisions of local government. In the speech on Unpas Covid-19 Vaccination Week program, the Rector stated that the plan of re-opening face-to-face learning process was still waiting for the update of regional PPKM to reach Level 1.
“Unpas has not dared to re-open face-to-face learning process and has just implemented hybrid learning for certain courses or activities that need to be carried out in the field. It has been running since July, but only partially,” he explained.
The Rector also confirmed that doing the total offline learning is not possible yet this far. Apart from seeing the current condition of regional PPKM, Unpas will still record the percentage of students who have been vaccinated and consider their parents’ approval.
“If the level of herd immunity in Bandung has already reached 70%, PPKM level will certainly decrease. However, we stick to the decision on students’ parents’ approval, while students are expected to get vaccinated in their own living areas,” he continued.
Mentioned about the face-to-face learning process, the Rector said that Unpas will not be reckless, especially when it involves thousands of students from several regions in Indonesia. Even more, up until now, students’ canteen and dormitory are not allowed to operate yet, because it is feared that it will form new cluster of Covid-19. Therefore, lectures for 2021/2022 Academic Year are confirmed to be still held online.
According to the Head of Covid-19 Task Force Paguyuban Pasundan dr. Trias Nugrahadi, Sp.KN (K), the vaccination program for students is still far from the expected target. Data collection on student vaccination status is still being carried out in stages, but it is a bit hampered because it is carried out online.
The data will be the reference and consideration for re-opening face-to-face academic activities in campus, together with the parents’ approval. Unpas is still trying to get a 70% herd immunity in order to be able to hold a face-to-face learning process.
“We still need to catch up to the update, to hold an offline learning process, even more when there are students from outside Bandung. We urge the students to get vaccinated in their own living areas,” he continued.
What is most important thing is, if the face-to-face learning process is going to be re-opened, both students, teachers, as well as academic staffs within Unpas should commit to follow and stick to health protocol and maintain campus’ conductivity. (Reta)*
