BANDUNG, unpas.ac.id – To strengthen the relationship with the alumni, Faculty of Teaching and Education (FKIP) Universitas Pasundan holds a webinar and alumni gathering (reunion) on Tuesday, 22 March 2022
The webinar attended by more than 200 participants brought a theme Implementasi Pembelajaran Abad 21 di Era Volatility, Uncertainty, Complexity dan Ambiguity (VUCA) dalam Konteks Pendidikan.
It presents three keynote speakers, namely Dr. H. Uus Toharudin, M.Pd (Dean of Unpas FKIP), Drs. Iriansyah (Head of Unpas FKIP IKA and Activist for Children-friendly Education Unit) and Acep Roni Hamdani, S.Pd., M.Pd (IT-based Learning Practitioner).
Dean of Unpas FKIP, as the first presenter, explained about how to ground the literacy in the 21st century. According to the Dean, there are three skills that must be mastered by students and given by teachers and educators as well.
“First one is learning skills including critical thinking, creativity, collaboration and communication. Second is literacy skills consisting of information literacy, media literacy and technology literacy. Third one is life skills such as flexibility, leadership, initiative, productivity and social skills,” he explained.
By mastering these 21st century’s skills, students will have an adaptive quality required for adjusting themselves to the ever-evolving environment.
In addition, there needs to be a meaningful learning whose indicators must vary, starting from Lower Order Thinking Skills (LOTS) to High Order Thinking Skills (HOTS).
The aspects of cognitive, affective, psychomotor, problem solving and problem-based learning should also be mastered in order to create habits of mind. The implementation needs also to be repeated, not only once.
If the habits of mind are already formed, there will be transfer of learning (knowledge transfer). Its types could be different; it could be positive, negative, near transfer, or even far transfer.
“The steps are like: if the learning is meaningful for student, it is hoped that the habits of mind will arise. If that happens, there will be a transfer of learning. That is where the 21st century’s literacy comes from,” he explained.
The material continued with a presentation by Head of Unpas FKIP IKA Drs. Iriansyah who explained about child-friendly education unit based on the fulfilment of children’s rights.
