BANDUNG, unpas.ac.id – Coinciding to the event of mapag Ramadhan on Saturday, 26 March 2022, Faculty of Teaching and Education (FKIP) Universitas Pasundan) launched its amil zakat institution called as Walahar.
Dean of Unpas FKIP who is as well a person-in-charge of Walahar, Dr. H. Uus Toharudin, M.Pd said that Walahar is an philanthropic institution which maintains and organizes zakat, infaq, alms and other social funds.
“We establish this non-profit organization Walahar so that Unpas academic civitas do not have to go much further if they want to pay their zakat, infaq, or alms. Later, the funds collected will be distributed through community empowerment program,” he said.
The philosophy of the name ‘Walahar’ was derived from Sundanese which means a place to accommodate. With a vision of becoming a trustworthy, superior and inspiring institution, Walahar is expected to be able to send goodness for the community.
Several programs which have been carried out are assistance for orphans, disaster victims and humanity, educational scholarship, as well as other conditional programs.
“The early program which has been taken by was assistance for orphans at Al Hisyam Foundation – Generasi Peduli. Later, there will be program development of social awareness with a more Islamic and humanist approach,” he said.
Other than teachers and students within Unpas, public can also pay their zakat, infaq and alms through Walahar. The funds collected will be maintained by using Islamic methods.
“Walahar becomes a place for proving someone’s faith and increasing good deeds, as well as developing social awareness. Its management has also been pledged not to be paid, so it is entirely for people in need,” he ended. (Reta)*
