BANDUNG, unpas.ac.id – As many as 30 Humanitarian Ambassadors Universitas Pasundan who has been selected through the program KOICA Goes to Campus were sent off to do the training, promotion and education program at Desa Cibeureum, Kertasari Sub-district, Bandung District, on Saturday, 25 June 2022.
This sending-off ceremony of Humanitarian Ambassadors at the event of KOICA Safety at Home (a follow-up program from KOICA Goes to Campus) was directly led by Unpas Vice Rector III Dr. H. Deden Ramdan, M.Si. at the Hall of Mandala Saba Ir. H. Djuanda, Unpas Campus II, Jalan Tamansari no. 6-8, Bandung.
As the mentor of Students’ Unit (UKM) and students’ institution in Unpas, the Vice Rector III appreciated Volunteer Corps for PMI which was lined up as one of the 24 administrators of KOICA Goes to Campus.
At its mature age, Unpas KSR has been consistently still internalize the spirit of humanity to students to help each other effected by both natural/non-natural disaster.
“KOICA Saftety ad Home is the dynamic step in establishing a campus as the frontliner element to present the value of humanity in the middle of disruption era,” he stated.
Being the Assisted Village of Unpas since 2013
Before sending the ambassadors off, Unpas Vice Rector III described an overview the location of Desa Cibeureum which has been Unpas assisted village since 2013.
Unpas also cooperates with local Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) to oversee the planned programs.
“We have contributed a lot in Desa Cibeureum, so the people are used to the arrival of the Unpas academic community. I think the contribution of the Unpas Humanitarian Ambassador will also be welcomed and implemented properly,” he explained.
In front of the 30 ambassadors, he emphasized that the knowledge they have obtained will be going to be properly transferred to the society to ground on human values.
“There are a lot of additional values you can obtain from this program. You get much soft skills, broader networks and silaturahmi, much empathy, and spirit of humanity. You are great because you dare to do the different, and be productive in the middle of your duty to study online. Thank you and good luck,” he continued.
Targeting on 150 Families
Head of PMI Headquarter for West Java Erlan Suherman who will accompany these ambassadors stated that KOICA Safety at Home in Desa Cibeureum targets on 150 families of more or less 750 benefit recipients (assuming 5 people per family).
Humanitarian Ambassadors will be divided into 5 groups whose training focuses are related to pandemic and endemic, handling a household-scale fire, and first aid by using method of HIRA (Hazard, Identification and Risk Assessment).
“Although it is short, we hope there would be a knowledge-transfer to create a comfortable and ideal home,” he concluded. (Reta)**
