BANDUNG, unpas.ac.id – Shooting and doing karate: these two sports are closely attached to Romadoniyati Ruhhaidah Welliansyah, a student of Department of Bahasa and Indonesia Literature (Pendidikan Bahasa dan Sastra Indonesia, PBSI), Faculty of Teaching and Education (FKIP) Universitas Pasundan.
The reopening event of several sports tournament in Covid-19 Post-pandemic was properly used by Niya (her familiar nickname) to perform her best skill nationally.
Few weeks ago, Niya successfully won the gold medal at the 2022 KASAU Cup (National Shooting Championship, Air Force Staff Cup) at the category of 10m: Air Pistol Women’s Team along with two colleagues in Lapangan Tembak Senayan PB Perbakin.
While in the individual cateofy, Niya should be satisfied on having the 5th of 8 other participants in senior class.
First Time Getting into the Final Round at Shooting Champioship
Niya said that this was her first time getting into the final round. Although previously she had doubts and was not confident, Niya was able to maintain and convince herself to perform her best.
“When I got into the special shooting arena, the feeling has disappeared. I tried to stay calm and relaxed, focused and optimistic to perform my best,” she said to Unpas Publication Team, on Tuesday, 21 June 2022.
She thinks that the final result of 2022 KASAU Cup was worth the practices and training she has been through. Niya consistently follows the training program that has been prepared by the coach while carrying out independent exercises at home.
Every day from 5 – 6 am and 8 – 9 pm, Niya does dry-aiming practice to maintain and improve shooting quality. Only around 3 pm – 7 pm, Niya trained with her coach at the club.
“I have been involved in shooting sports since 2018, to be precise when I was in 11th grade in high school. I also briefly joined the Pasundan Shooting Club (PSC) for two years,” she explained.
Doing on Karate
Apart from shooting, Niya a is also active in karate. Niya, who now holds a level 1 black belt in the kata and kumite categories, has even been pursuing karate since elementary school.
Finally, she won a gold medal at the 2nd International Virtual Kata Championship after eliminating opponents from India, Malaysia, Iran, and Tamilnadu in the Female Senior Class 18-20 Year Old Kata Black Belt.
“If I were to be asked to choose between karate and shooting, I cannot decide, because both have their own challenges. I will pass my skill on to my juniors,” she said.
Prepared to Face Porda and Porprov
Today, Niya is improving her shooting training session to compete in the 2022 Local Sports Week (Pekan Olahraga Daerah, Porda) dan 2022 West Java Provincial Sports Week (Pekan Olahraga Propinsi, Porprov).
Nevertheless, Niya does not put aside her college obligations and is currently preparing to write her final assignment. “I must not forget to always prepare my mental and physics in order to get optimal result. Since it is nearing the end of the semester, I am also starting to focus on my final assignment,” she concluded. (Reta)**
