BANDUNG, unpas.ac.id – The 76th Anniversary of Republic of Indonesia is still being celebrated in the midst of Covid-19 pandemic. Similar to the previous year, there are no joyful celebrations during this year’s Independence Day.
The momentum of Independence Day actually is not only about the excitement of the competition, but more that; it is about the passion of struggle and the spirit of nationalism that must be embedded in the soul, even though the reality is as bitter as the Covid-19 pandemic.
Commemorating the Independence Day of Republic of Indonesia, Unpas Rector Prof. Dr. Ir. H. Eddy Jusuf Sp, M.Si., M.Kom., IPU gave advices that although we and our mobility are restricted in doing normal activities, adapting to new life and fulfilling the Independence Day still become our responsibility.
“Although it is still pandemic, we need to fulfil it with several potentials to make Indonesia better, stronger and more developed. Even if it is hard, we need to be able to adapt, move on and adjust ourselves to the environment,” he said.
In the midst of crisis, the theme of “Indonesia Tangguh Indonesia Tumbuh” is expected to be interpreted optimistically to keep moving and rise from this pandemic. The theme described values of power and spirit of never-giving-up to work together in undergoing challenging paths.
“If our pioneers had their own slogan ‘Freedom or Death’ (lit. Merdeka atau Mati), we could rise the spirit of strength and growing to get the achievement for the better future,” he continued.
The Rector also added that it was important for us to implement the spirit of Independence Day in the education field so that Indonesia could be able to be recognized as a great country.
“For young generation, be productive. Do positive things and make your work as your priority. Fulfill this Independence Day with achievements to be proud of,” he said.
Last but not least, the Rector also emphasized to spend the time usefully, especially for Unpas students, for doing activities that have additional values, even when it is in online condition.
“Today, we still do online learning. We hope the condition could be quickly better and allow us to learn offline, or even collaborate the learning with blended system,” he concluded. (Reta)*
