BANDUNG, unpas.ac.id – Last week, Head of PB Paguyuban Pasundan Prof. Dr. H. M. Didi Turmudzi, M.Si welcomed the visit of one Unpas alumnus Dr. Iyus Suryana, SH., MH., who was recently entrusted to fill the position of Secretary of the Registrar’s Office of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Indonesia.
He was inaugurated in 30 August 2021 and replaced the position of Joni Effendi who was switched duties as Registrar of Bandung High Court. This alumnus from Garut received his education and earned his Bachelor, Magister and Doctoral Degrees at Unpas.
Prof. Didi stated that Iyus’ work in the Supreme Court was a matter of pride for Unpas. Moreover, he is the first alumni to successfully serve a position on the Supreme Court.
“We are certainly grateful, proud and honoured. He is a humble figure, nyantri, nyunda and the only Unpas alumnus who passed and join in judicative circle in the Supreme Court,” he said.
Iyus is one of one of the many alumni who have succeeded in proving to the public that Unpas graduates are able to compete with graduates from other universities. He hopes that Iyus could inspire and encourage Unpas alumni and students to take part and get their own achievements in their fields.
“We wish you good in carrying out your duties. We hope you would always maintain the trust, keep healthy and convenient, and show the best contribution to the nation,” he continued.
Iyus also stated that his visit to Unpas was carried out in order to lengthen the silaturahim as an alumnus, considering he obtained all his education in Unpas. He completed his Bachelor Degree in 1993, Magister Degree in 2007 and Doctoral Degree in 2019.
“I am ‘originally’ from Unpas, because I spent all my degrees here, both Bachelor, Magister, and Doctorate. I am very thankful for the support Unpas and Paguyuban Pasundan have given to me. For me, I could not get into the Supreme Court without your help and support,” he said.
After completing his Bachelor Degree, Iyus started his career as a state apparatus in Garut High Court. He spent his experience leading the court since 1995 to 2015 as Vice Registrar in Garut High Court.
Furthermore, he continuously served the position as Registrar in Cianjur High Court (2015), Registrar in Tanjungpinang High Court (January 2017), Registrar in Tanjungkarang High Court (May 2017), Registrar in Jakarta Timur High Court (2021).
Iyus admitted that he was amazed seeing the fact that Unpas has been growing this big and creating qualified graduates in various fields. By the abilities it owned, he was sure that Unpas alumni could compete to the other and join anywhere they like.
“I hope, Unpas alumni could be able to serve their career in either judicative or executive field. Therefore, silaturahim between alumni should be improved, to make graduates able to serve widely. And we hope there would be a Minister from Unpas,” he concluded. (Reta)*
