BANDUNG, unpas.ac.id – “Feeling unhesitant to experience new things and keeping to move forward” – the slogan that is always to be the motivation for Fathiya Nur Inayah: a Class-2019 student of Department of Social Welfare, UNPAS Faculty of Social and Political Science.
The girl born in April 2nd, 2001 got an achievement in the University-level Outstanding Student Election in order to celebrate 2020 UNPAS 60th Dies Natalis. She got elected to be the Faculty’s representative.
When attending the outstanding student selection, she submitted her scientific paper on the theme of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) entitled “Deaf Communication and Relationships in Inclusive Schools”.
The paper discussed about the idea of deaf communication and relationship in inclusive schools, as well as found out about it in a perspective of Social Welfare knowledge field. It also covered and optimized about the preventive effort in creating a qualified education for all children in Indonesia.
“I have few times attended seminars about deaf people, sign language, meeting few disabled fellows and meeting those who have similar concern. We talked and observed directly. I also look up into the journal as references and became interested to write about these issues,” she said, on Saturday (March 20th, 2021).
Fathiya did not get an achievement in the academic field only, but also non-academic. Currently, she got 1st place of infographic competition held by UI Student Community of Social Welfare at the annual national event entitled 2021 Social Welfair on the theme of “Intervention of Social Welfare during Covid-19 Pandemic”. She made an infographic entitled “Psychosocial Support Service during Covid-19 Pandemic”.
She said the she chose infographic because she thought it was interesting and the information within it could be transferred easily to the public. She explained that she has been learning the graphic design by herself only.
“I learn the graphic design all by myself. I attempted to do that repeatedly and learned few things. I have done the research about what to create and convey before designing the infographic,” she explained.
This SMAN 1 Baleendah alumni confirmed that the Covid-19 had given her a lot of time to improve her skill, especially in multimedia.
“In the beginning of pandemic, all activities are carried out at home. Because there are a lot of free time, I used it to improve my skill, such as editing, graphic designing and video editing,” she said.
Fathiya is now active in few social activities and also in hand as Vice Secretary of Student Community of UNPAS Social Welfare. Apart from that, she also joins the community of Sego Bandung (Sebung), a community of youth in Bandung that concerns to the people in need. Every week, this community prepares and share food for them.
“Since the 2nd grade of high school, I’ve been active in social community, one of which is Sebung which routinely take every Friday night,” she explained.
Since the beginning of March 2021, Fathiya also attended the volunteer activity at Ruang Kita Mengabdi Foundation in the program of Bina Desa. Recently, she also serves to community to advance education at Desa Banyuresmi, Kecamatan Sukasarai, Kabupaten Sumedang, West Java.
“I love joining social activity. I can directly interact to new people and contribute to them,” she added.
Regarding her future plan, Fathiya wants to re-join few competitions related to social welfare in the national or international level. She also confirmed that the achievements she got today becomes one of her big motivation to keep up her achievement, both academically and non-academically.
“I hope what I got today would become my biggest motivation to keep working and contributing to people. This is the most important thing, we cannot give up on things, keep learning and experience new things,”she ended. (Rico B)*
