BANDUNG, unpas.ac.id – Universitas Pasundan (UNPAS) collaborated with the National Agency of Narcotics (lit. Badan Narkotika Nasional (BNN)) and the West Java University Volunteer Alliance of Anti-Drugs Abuse (lit. Aliansi Relawan Perguruan Tinggi Anti Penyalahgunaan Narkoba (Artipena)) to hold a webinar entitled “War on Drugs: A Country’s Step to Fight Against Narcotics through virtual platform Zoom Cloud Meeting and live streaming in Harmoni TV on Tuesday, March 9th, 2021.
The keynote speaker of the webinar was Pangdam III Siliwangi Mayor General TNI, Nugroho Budi Wiryanto, S.I.P., M.M., Head of West Java BNN Brigadier General Pol. Drs. Sufyan Syarif, MM and Rector of UIN Sunan Gunung Jati Bandung, Prof. Dr. H. Mahmud, M.Si.
In his speech, Head of Artipena who is also Rector of UNPAS, Prof. Dr. Ir. H. Eddy Jusuf Sp., M.Si., M.Kom, IPU said that the webinar was held to support the policy of Head of Indonesian BNN (with hashtag #WarOnDrugs) as the effort to fight against narcotics.
“The policy should be spread and heard by the community to create [their] awareness of the danger (of the drugs). It (narcotics distribution) is now much more structured, systematic and massive. Therefore, we should support the policy,” he said.
Even in the midst of a pandemic, drug trafficking has not subsided. There are even indications that it has increased in the past few years. In addition, drug abuse cases are currently even found among adolescents, adults, and middle and high economic communities.
“Drug abuse cases are even found in the children, housewives and low-income community. All professions are threatened with the exposure to drugs, including the world of education,” he continued.
Beside drugs, the country is now threatened by radicalism, natural disaster, as well as the decrease of nationalism and patriotism in various dimension among young generation.
To build millennial generation who are free from drug abuse, radicalism and the lack of nationalism becomes a great work for all community elements. It need a strong commitment from all parties in a structured, systematic, massive, and standardized manner.
“The presence of tough volunteers, namely state defense personnel who have a calling to be part of the nation’s solution, both elements of the academic community and other components of society is a strategic step for the realization of a drug-free Indonesia,” added the Rector.
The Webinar presented a speaker from the Head of the West Java Kesbangpol Dr. Drs. H. R. Iip Hidajat, M.Pd, Secretary General of West Java Artipena and UNPAS Postgraduate Lecturer, Dr. Eki Baihaki, M.Si, Secretary of West Java ICMI Dr. Ujang Saefullah, M.Si.
Apart from that, Poltekkesos Vice Director of Student Affairs, Dr. Epi Supiadi, M.Si as well as student volunteers and Head of UNPAS KSR Widia Ayu Rizkia also attended the webinar. It was closed by the Vice Head of West Java Artipena, Dr. H. Deden Ramdan, M.Si, CICP. DBA.
The presentation topic was discussed by the speakers and also focused on the fight on drugs in realizing West Java ‘JUARA’. It also discussed about being an influencer to invite people to fight against drugs, students as anti-drugs volunteer, a drug-free campus and basic competency of anti-drugs volunteer, as well as drugs on Islamic perspective.
