BANDUNG, unpas.ac.id – Welcoming the 9th anniversary, Pasundan Radio initiated tree-plantation program to support environmental preservation.
Pasundan Radio invites all of its listeners to donate as much as 10 thousand rupiahs, which will be distributed in a form of mangrove plantation in Kampung Laut, Cilacap, Central Java.
Pasundan Radio also collaborates with the platform of crowdfunding LindungiHutan which focuses on forest and environment conservation campaign.
Station Manager of Pasundan Radio, Melinia Indah stated that the invitation of donation and tree-plantation program were initiated so that Sobat Kampus (a greeting for Pasundan Radio listeners) could leave a good record for the nature.
“The nature has already provided us many benefits. Pasundan Radio wants to build Sobat Kampus’ awareness to create better condition of the earth as a home in the future,” she said on Tuesday, 23 March 2022
Kampung Laut is a group of small islands in Segara Anakan which form several villages. In Kampung Laut, there is Mangrove Arboretum Tourism Area “Kolak Sekancil” which has a wide collection of mangrove plants.
Recently, mangrove plantation which exists in Kampung Laut started to be damaged. Its beaches are also eroded by waves and its marine population is reduced.
“In addition to causing the extinction of flora and fauna, the village area in Kampung Laut is also often submerged when tidal flooding occurs. The sea waves attack cannot be stopped because the mangrove trees are decreasing,” he added.
Along with LindungiHutan, Pasundan Radio will plant the kind of Rhizophora Mangrove tree species which can make a mud sediment on the roots of the mangrove trees; thereby preventing sea water/waves intrusion into the mainland.
Rhizopora mangrove also have roots that can accelerate the decomposition of organic and chemical wastes that have the potential to pollute the sea.
The campaign will run until April 22, 2022, to coincide with the commemoration of Earth Day and target 150 trees to be planted.
“The money donated by Sobat Kampus has been used to donate, plant, and take care of trees. It has been easier for us to help take care of the earth,” said Meli.
This year’s Pasundan Radio Anniversary theme is the same as the campaign theme, namely “Menanam Pohon, Menanam Harapan”.
“Hopefully Pasundan Radio’s helping hand to help planting mangroves in Kampung Laut can have a big impact on the earth of Indonesia,” said Meli. (Reta)*
