BANDUNG, unpas.ac.id – Currently, the government continuously pushes teachers in Indonesia to keep doing research and international publication. Beside being the supporting factor to improve university’s reputation, international publication also has benefits for developing the Science and Technology (IPTEK).
Writing a scientific article is rather different than writing common article in the media. There are many aspects which require certain attention to make it interesting, especially for editor and reviewer.
In terms of format, the writing must be adjusted to the rules set by the publisher. Authors must understand a number of elements, such as substance standards and governance standards which include author guidelines, templates, as well as tricks and strategies.
However, in fact, there are many teachers who still find it difficult to attract the attention of editors and reviewers for their writing, let alone getting published in the international journals.
So, how can an article attract the attention of editors and reviewers? The following are tips and tricks shared by a teacher in the Management study program, Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) Universitas Pasundan, Ardi Gunardi, SE., M.Sc., CSRS., CSRA. via his personal blog:
- The paper should have its originality, so it is able to describe the findings, methods and new results which have never existed before.
- The content of the paper should be relevant to the current discipline issues.
- The methodology used for doing the research should be valid and objective, so it is able to create a qualified scientific work.
- The paper should be clear and structured. The quality should also be proper.
- The writing should have progressive arguments. The arguments which come later strengthen the argument at the beginning.
- The writing should pay attention to the suitability of both theoretical and practical aspects, because good research must actually be able to answer the issues raised in the questions.
- Use tools reference to adjust references and reviews of source materials.
- Pay attention to the scope of the research. Editors prefer papers which have a global focus (intention to solve problems on a global scale).
- The paper should be in line with the scope and objectives of the editorial team.
- The paper should have efficient titles, precise keywords and well-written abstract.
