Educating and teaching are the main duties of a teacher, other than doing research and community service. Realizing the duty as a teacher and based on what he had been dreaming of teaching and sharing knowledge and experience for university students in other countries, Abu Huraerah (57), a teacher in Department of Social Welfare Faculty of Social and Political Science in UNPAS, has recently been doing his duty as visiting lecturer in Department of Social Welfare, Faculty of Psikologi dan Pendidikan (FPP – Psychology and Education) University of Malaysia Sabah.
“I got the opportunity to teach Community Practice and Social Law (Praktik Komuniti dan Undang-Undang Sosial) at UMS,” he said. “This is my first experience, teaching at other universities abroad. It is also an honor and pride for me to be invited by the Dean of FPP UMS to fill the visiting lecturer program”.
This program is a cooperation between UNPAS and UMS. Previously, these two universities have already done several partnership activities, for example international seminar and students exchange. The student exchange program has been carried out for 2 times in 2016 and 2018 using the form of credit mobility (academic credit transfer) between Department of Social Welfare Faculty of Social and Political Science UNPAS and Department of Social Work Fakulti of Psikologi dan Pendidikan (FPP) UMS, each of which sends their students to study for 1 semester.
Abu Huraerah, a Doctorate of Social Welfare of University of Indonesia, wished that this collaboration could continue, as well as going with both compiling joint-research and writing reputable international journal article, between teachers of UNPAS and UMS.
Abu Huraerah, also a certificated reviewer of Indonesian Ministry of Research and Technology, sent his gratitude to the Dean and Vice Deans Faculty of Social and Political Science UNPAS who have been supporting him for this program.
