BANDUNG, unpas.ac.id – Last April, karateka sisters, Hisnayati Eka Willyansasri and
Romadoniyati Ruhhaidah Welliansyah successfully obtained gold medals at the 2 nd 2021
International Virtual Kata Championship held by Shotokan Karate-Do International European
Federation of India (SKIEFI).
Hisnayati currently served as a staff in Faculty of Law Universitas Pasundan, while
Romadoniyati is a fourth-semester student of Department of Bahasa and Indonesian Literature,
Faculty of Teaching and Education (FKIP).
Other than SKIEFI, World United Sport Karate Organization (WUSKO) also held the 1 st 2021
World Virtual Kata Championship attended by 39 clubs from 17 countries; while SKIEFI was
attended by 33 clubs from 21 countries. On both events, these karateka sisters from Bandung
successfully obtained 6 gold medals, 5 silver medals and 3 bronze medals.
As a form of appreciation, Deputy of Major of Bandung, Yana Mulyana, symbolically handed
over the medals to these karateka who successfully gained popularity to Bandung at the
international event on Tuesday, 2 November 2021.
Under the supervision of Indonesian Academy of Karate West Java (Akademi Seni-Bela Diri
Karate Indonesia Jawa Barat, ASKI), these sisters went through a training intensively, especially
when this was the first time they attended the tournament virtually.
“Although we need to work, I use my spare-time to train in the middle of WFH, as well as
prepare myself physically and technically. And also maintain dietary habit,” Hisnayati explained.
Hisnayati obtained the gold medal in the category of Female Senior 21-22 Years Old Kata Black
Belt after fighting against representatives of Iran and India. Before the tournament begins,
participants need to submit their best video to be reviewed and scored by the judges based on
their match chart.
Her sister, Romadoniyati obtained the gold medal in the category Female Senior 18-20 Years
Old Kata Black Belt, fighting against her opponent from India, Malaysia and Iran. Similar to her
older sister, she also prepared physically, mentally and healthily, considering the fact that the
opponent she was fighting against was not easy to beat.
“I am very glad, even though I felt tired because I needed to spare my time studying online,
shooting schedule and training for the tournament,” she said.
Although both of them needed to spare their time training, they were grateful they could
contribute the gold medals for Bandung and Indonesia, generally.
“We are really grateful we could bring the name of Bandung and our academy, ASKI, at the
international event. We will strive to keep trying and prove that Bandung still has outstanding
