
BANDUNG, unpas.ac.id – Faculty of Social and Political Science (FISIP) Universitas Pasundan, through Team of Community Service (Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat, PKM) help the independent program for maintain the waste in Kampung Inspirasi, Desa Cilengkrang, Bandung District.
At first glance, there is no significant difference between Kampung Inspirasi and other villages in Desa Cilengkrang. What makes the difference is the existence of an independent waste processing facility that was built to reduce waste.
Head of the PKM FISIP Unpas Team Dra. Dewi Astuti Mudji, M.Si. conveyed that from these facilities, the local community was able to convert waste into handicraft products with high-selling value.
“Utilizing waste as an activity to support the community’s economy is the beginning of this village being dubbed the Inspiration Village,” he said.
People’s creativity in Kampung Inspirasi has even brought them to obtain achievement and fund-assistance as much as IDR 13,5 million from local government.
“Until now, effects from Covid-19 pandemic still have significant influence on the sustainability of waste management. As a result, sales of processed products have decreased drastically,” she added.
In addition to the decline in people’s purchasing power, public enthusiasm and awareness in managing waste in a sustainable manner has also decreased.
“Additionally, the sales system resulting from waste processing is still conventional, people are not aware of digital market opportunities,” she explained.
For this reason, Unpas PKM Team seeks to provide assistance to improve business management and introduce digitalization so that people can integrate the sales system.
Not only to restore sales stability, Unpas PKM Team is trying to rebuild the community’s passion in managing waste according to the name embedded in Kampung Inspirasi.
“We want the public to gain insight into the use of information technology, so they can optimize the promotion of production through marketplace platforms (Shopee, Tokopedia, Lazada, etc.) and social media (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Whatsapp Messenger Application, Line, etc.),” she explained.
