BANDUNG, unpas.ac.id – In the middle of the 4.0 Industry Revolution, public administration is now facing various challenges and considered being needed to do the reformation. These challenges also create the digital era causing to public service’s better expectation, openness, speed and accuracy.
Reformation of public administration holds an important and strategic role, even more becomes certain requirements in strengthening the quality of democracy in order to establish social/people’s welfare. More than that, public administration is the enabling factor in developing the nation and country.
These issues were brought as topic of general course class held by Unpas Public Administration Department, collaborated with Magister of Administration Studies and Public Policy (Magister Ilmu Administrasi and Kebijakan Publik, MIA) Postgraduate Program Universitas Pasundan, on Saturday, 16 October 2021.
The course class entitled “Paradigma Baru dalam Administrasi Publik di Era Revolusi Industri 4.0 dan Society 5.0” presented the professor from Universitas Muhammadiyah Jakarta, Prof. Dr. Azhari Aziz Samudra, M.Si, attended by approximately 200 students and teachers of Unpas.
According to the Head of Unpas MIA Department, Dr. H. Yaya Mulyana Abdul Azis, a quite actual improvement in technology sector has given us new challenge and caused a change of paradigm, especially in public administration field.
“We can see and feel the quite massive challenge because of the 4.0 technology disruption. This certainly gives impact to public policy, government management such as good governance and the others,” he explained.
He also added that both government and stakeholder of public administration should take the steps of technology adoption, adaptation and anticipation, in order not to be left behind from the other private agencies which were firstly adaptive.
“There are no other choices, government should have not only created image of [switching into] online service, but it also needs to perfect. In actual work, the practice is still conventional and hard to be accessed. Government should have a strong commitment and been quick to adapt to the change,” he continued.
The general course class which is collaboration between Public Administration Department and Unpas MIA is regularly held once every year to prepare the department’s accreditation, support the academic ambiance and guide the human resources based on its vision and mission.
“Such course class can enrich students’ insight, so that they will be mor aware of the current shifts and developments, as well as able to adjust their mindset,” explained the Secretary of MIA Department, Dr. Iwan Satibi, M.Sc.
In the nearest future, Unpas will also carry out the research and hold a community service in Legok Jawa, Pangandaran. This effort is nothing but to advance, develop, and disseminate administrative knowledge as a form of service to the community. (Reta)*
