BANDUNG, unpas.ac.id – For Law students, term of moot court is familiar. Through this court, students are able to find out how the actual court really is. Moot court is part of course of Procedural Law subject.
As the name stands for, cases heard in this court is fictive. However, the process of case development is created as logical as possible and as close to the real case. Like an actual court, students also take part to play as judge, advocate, prosecutor, witness as well as the defendant.
At Unpas Faculty of Law, students who want to implement the theory of Procedural Law and execute a court simulation can join the unit Angrahatana Pasundan Moot Court (APMC).
Unit that has been established in 2019 focuses on honing students’ skill in the fields of criminal and civil procedural law, and state administrative law. In addition, APMC also routinely conducts case reviews, files law enforcement and conducts trial practices.
“When reviewing the case, we will first explore what kind of crime the case belongs to: a civil case involving a breach of contract or an act against the law. After being reviewed, we learned to compose trial files to be simulated,” explained the Head of APMC, Irfan Alfieansyah, on Tuesday (June 22nd, 2021)
To provide law education, APMC keeps sharing the various contents and holds a sharing session in the program entitled “Ngobrol Santai di Instagram”. Last March, APMC also published a first-edition magazine entitled AFOKUM (Angrahatana Informasi Hukum).
Currently, APMC has not yet established formal cooperation with legal agencies or institutions. However, APMC was internally fostered by the Student Affairs Division of the Faculty of Law Unpas and the Legal Consultation Assistance Bureau.
“Formal cooperation has not yet been carried out and is still running. But, we plan to have a cooperation with several legal office and judiciary,” he continued.
Since it was established, APMC has joined a national moot court competition several times. It recently won a favorite photo contest, as part of National Moot Court Competition: Anti Money Laundering VI held by Community of Moot Court, Faculty of Law Universitas Trisakti.
“Before APMC was established, Unpas Faculty of Law rarely participates in moot court events. This time, we are always supported and able to take part in the competition, as well as introducing that Unpas Faculty of Law has good quality,” he said.
Referring to the name of Angrahatana derived by Sunda Buhun vocabularies, APMC aims to form its members to become a meritorious and influential person for the environment and for themselves.
“When we have our court or practice at the court, we always need to prove ourselves useful and able to give changes for Indonesian law. Apart from that, it is as the first step in knowing the actual court,” he continued.
APMC is currently preparing its delegation to attend moot court competition held by Faculty of Law Universitas Diponegoro next October. Its preparation includes a selection (based on the case understanding), expression and voice intonation when playing the role, position case review, pre-simulation files and court simulation to be presented in the competition.
