BANDUNG, unpas.ac.id – Faculty of Law Universitas Pasundan only has 1 study program/department: Law Studies, which certainly create Bachelor of Law.
In spending time studying in this faculty, students can lead their interest into specific field of law studies through the Specialty Program offered.
Unpas Faculty of Law has 8 specialty programs, including Civil Law, Criminal Law, Constitutional Law, International Economic Law, International Law, Islamic Law, Procedural Law, and Basic Law.
“These specialty programs aims to form or create the students to become expert at their own field, in which an expert in Law Studies was born through a process held by critical and innovative attitude. Thus it can develop their knowledge through research and development,” explained the Dean of Faculty of Law, Dr. Anthon F. Susanto, SH., M.Hum on Wednesday, 21 July 2021.
Summarized from various sources, the following are brief descriptions that will be studied in each specialty programs:
- Civil Law Specialty Program
Civil Law Specialty Program is one of favorite concentration programs by the students. It arranges individual rights which can be implemented everywhere. In this program, students focus to learn dispute law, marriage law, engagement law, family law, western civil law, and customary civil law.
- Criminal Law Specialty Program
Criminial Law is the law related to criminal act and social crime. It requires the defendant to be punished according to the applicable law. In this program, students will learn about criminal acts, both in general and specific, criminal acts (criminology), victims of the crime (victimology) and crime sanctions.
- Constitutional Law Specialty Program
As like as its name, Constitutional Law Specialty Programs discusses about various theories and practices in governing the nation/country/state. As an illustration, the subjects that will be studied in this concentration include state formation, state institutions, state finances, and government law, both centrally and regionally.
- International Economic Law Specialty Program
International Economic Law Specialty Program theoretically analyzes the development of thoughts, concepts, and theories of international economic law in order to criticize economic globalization. The program on International Economic Law focuses more on the World Trade Organization (WTO), Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC), Foreign Investment Law (Hukum Investasi Penanaman Modal Asing, PMA) and Domestic Investment (Penanaman Modal Dalam Negeri, PMDN), banking law and Intellectual Property Rights (Hak Kekayaan Intelektual, HAKI).
- International Law Specialty Program
The concentration of International Law is considered quite new, because there are globalization effect and a lot of areas which are not at the scope of nation’s law protection. International Law focuses on law studies in a global context, such as human rights and international trading.
Several subjects in International Law Specialty Program are about international crime or cross-bordered country, extradition, Mutual Legal Assistance (MLA), international courts, international civil law related to maritime rights, air and space law, international treaty law and international organization law.
- Islamic Law Specialty Program
Students who take Islamic Law Specialty Program to their credits studies about law fields of Islamic marriage, Islamic familial law, inheritance law, sharia economic law, sharia banking law, and Islamic criminal law.
- Procedural Law Specialty Law
Procedural Law Specialty Program is actually not much different from what it is discussed in Criminal Law and Civil Law, but it concerns more on legal procedures both in court and out of court.
Subjects that will be studied in this program are about justice system of criminal, civil, state administration, religion, children, human rights, national arbitration and international arbitration.
- Basic Law Specialty Program
Basic Law Specialty Program will study the basic regulation used as the basis and source for the enactment of all laws, regulations, or legislation in the administration of a country.
Basic Law Specialty Program studies philosophy of law, law and society (sociology of law), legal logic, terminology and interpretation, law and social phenomenon, and changes in society.
