BANDUNG, unpas.ac.id – After completing the series of open recruitment process, Vice Rector III Universitas Pasundan as well as a mentor for student organization/association, Dr. H. Deden Ramdahn, M.Si officially open inauguration ceremony for 23 new members of Student’s Press Organization (Lembaga Pers Mahasiswa, LPM) Jumpa.
The inauguration will be held in Bumi Perkemahan Ranca Upas, Ciwidey, Bandung Regency, in 11-13 March 2022. The new members’ enthusiasm during inauguration ceremony has finally re-arisen after two years of being held online.
General Leader of LPM Jumpa, Agustina Wiguna said that during the recruitment process of LPM Jumpa, they really paid attention to the sense of kinship/familyhood in order to strengthen their closeness to each other and to ground the vision and mission of the encounter.
“We are trying to instil the vision and mission of LPM Jumpa, which is to spread the truth, to make meeting, friends, fight and works to form new members with integrity,” she said.
The outdoor agenda consists of forming class leader, determining class name, building teamwork, sharing to each other (members and administrators), as well as embedding them as new members.
Before being inaugurated, new members were required to join an internship program for two months. They were involved in the process of reporting, writing and designing, in order to make them understand the way journalistic works.
“The basics of journalistic has previously been given to them on the Training and Education of Basic Journalistic (Pendidikan dan Pelatihan Jurnalistik Dasar, PPJD). They already received the materials about news writing, interview technique, reporting, photography, editing, digital journalism as well as students’ press,” she said.
During the internship, new members has been accompanied and supervised by the mentor. However, they were able to explore and develop new things and experiences. Agustina also confirmed that there are significant differences when seeing them doing the basic training and direct practice in the field.
“In the field, the were quite critical and able to dig into their own issues. Before taking weekly report, we always hold a project meeting and require them to share their thoughts/issues they have found,” she said.
Regarding the new breakthrough, this year LPM Jumpa will have their focus on developing the content in online media. New human resources will also be empowered to arrange the online publication and optimize the website jumpaonline.com.
“We are trying to explore more website contents, present the newer fresher updated things. These will become our last year to work on printed tabloid. Later, we plan to switch to the digital ones,” she continued.
As students’ press, LPM Jumpa wants to be an alternative media which is able to balance the proportion between campus and surrounding issues, both regionally and nationally. LPM Jumpa is also ready to be the frontliners in voicing out students’ concerns.
“We hope LPM Jumpa could be more well-known, more synergized and give birth to the members who are intellectual, competent and aware of the surrounding situation and condition, since there are a lot of issues which need to be revealed and paid attention to,” she concluded. (Reta)*
