
BANDUNG, unpas.ac.id – Vice Rector III Universitas Pasundan Dr. H. Deden Ramdan, M.Si sends off Time Peduli Negeri Keluarga Mahasiswa Unpas to do social charity program at the disaster-affected location in Garut, on Tuesday, 26 July 2022.
The team consisting of Student’s Executive Board (Badan Eksekutif Mahasiswa, BEM) and representative of Students’ Institution at faculty/department level set off from Unpas Campus II, Jl. Tamansari No. 6-8, Bandung.
The disaster, floods and landslide, affected to 14 districts in Garut District due to the overflowing of the Cimanuk and Cikaengan rivers has caused 90 villages/kelurahan and 785 evacuate.
As a result of the floods, as many as 43 bridges were damaged and repairs are expected to take up to four months. In fact, the bridge is a link between regions.
“From 21 July 2022, the team has collected donation-fund in a form of money-cash, groceries, medicines and clothes to be distributed to the affected people,” said Vice Rector III.
Unpas volunteers directly jump into the location along with National Board of Disaster Countermeasures for Garut District (Badan Nasional Penanggulangan Bencana (BNPB).
“It is a continued program and comes from the students’ preparedness of humanity call. Students getting into the post-disaster location are all ready and able to carry out the duty of disaster’s management, as well as logistic distribution,” he said.
He advised to the volunteers to keep maintaining unity, health, togetherness and keep reporting the current situation at the location,” he continued.
“Keep your safety first. Hopefully it could make a useful contribution to others. Insya Allah, Unpas is always ready for this kind of activities,” he advised. (Reta)**
