BANDUNG, unpas.ac.id – Institute for the Study and Development of Islamic Syiar (Lembaga Pengkajian dan Pengembangan Syiar Islam, LPPSI) and Institute for Sundanese Culture (Lembaga Budaya Sunda, LBS) are two units which hold an important role in realizing Universitas Pasundan mission and vision.
LPPSI develops its Islamic value, while LBS focuses more on Sundanese culture. Other than implementing the teaching curriculum which requires all Sundanese and Islamic subjects, to deepen the ground of Islamic and Sundanese values, these two institutes plan to create a more familiar content with the millennials.
“LPPSI and LBS should work together. We will try to collaborate deepening Islamic values by approaching from Sundanese perspective, for example – to study Sundanese proverbs by using religious language,” explained Head of Unpas LPPSI, Dr. H. Tata Sukayat, M.Ag, on Thursday (June 3rd, 2021)
He thinks that there should be a light discussion about Islamic and Sundanese knowledge by using current contemporary approach. It will not only actualize Unpas vision, but more than that, also make students understand the discussion which is currently considered being useless but meaningful.
“Young generation, when asked about heavy-weighted subjects on religion or culture, is usually less interested. So, it will probably be packed in a light, humorous way, but weighty still,” he added.
As it was planned, the content will be targeted to young generation in social media. The discussion of noble values of Islam and Sunda which is familiar and legendary certainly becomes the main attention and interest.
Meanwhile, Head of Unpas LBS, Dr. H. Wawan Setiawan, M.Sn, said that these were steps to regenerate Sundanese culture wrapped with religious knowledge, both within Unpas and society.
“This is carried out as the mission to build the atmosphere of Sundanese culture and Islam based on Unpas vision. Its concept is still being made to make it proper and continued, and appreciated as well,” he ended (Reta Amaliyah S)*
