BANDUNG, unpas.ac.id – Facing Ramadhan 1443H, Paguyuban Pasundan re-holds a mapag Ramadhan at the Hall of Mandala Saba Dr. Djoendjoenan, Jalan Sumatera no. 41, Bandung, on Tuesday, 29 March 2022.
Mapag Ramadhan (lit. a term in Sundanese which means to welcome something; in this case, to welcome Ramadhan, an Islamic month for fasting) has always been a routine agenda for Paguyuban Pasundan to welcome the sacred month. The event was attended by all administrators of Paguyuban Pasundan, staff leaders, and teachers of Pasundan Foundation of Higher Education (YPT Pasundan), as well as teachers in YPDM Pasundan.
This year, mapag Ramadhan is filled with religious lecture by Head of Bandung Ulema Council, Prof. Dr. KH. Miftah Faridl.
The event was also attended by Rector of Universitas Pasundan, Prof. Dr. Ir. H. Eddy Jusuf Sp., M.Si., M.Kom., IPU, Unpas Vice Rectors, faculty leaders, Head of Institution for Islamic Syiar and Development, and many more.
According to the General Chairman of Paguyuban Pasundan, Prof. Dr. H. Didi Turmudzi, M.Si, mapag Ramadhan is an annual tradition; momentum to get closer to Allah SWT.
“During Ramadhan, please spend your time doing worship activities and other syiar at the mosque. Do not forget to share and help each other; as Sundanese proverb stated, nulung kanu butuh, nalang kanu susah,” he said.
Ramadhan should be the sign of Muslim’s faith; by increasing the quantity of worship, silaturahmi, and providing benefits to those in need.
“There are a lot of temptation in doing Ramadhan fasting. It needs our courage and focus in keeping, maintaining and developing Islamic syiar according to the mission of Paguyuban Pasundan,” said Prof. Didi.
As Prof. Miftah Faridl stated that there are also religious lectures saying that Ramadhan should be welcome happy-heartedly. If the fasting itself is carried out sincerely, someone will always be tough when facing difficulties, istiqomah to fulfil promises, as well as able to control emotions.
“Do more night prayers, istighfar, alms, silaturahmi, wholly-prepared to help others in need. If you have already done wrong in life, then immediately ask for forgiveness. Ramadhan is not a month of pangedulan (being lazy); so please, do good deeds,” he advised.
Considering that Ramadhan is still in a pandemic condition, Prof. Miftah Faridl invites the community to continue to do tarawih, but it is adjusted to their surrounding environment.
“At the very least, masks and hand washing are the main things. When it comes to keeping a distance, it can be adjusted to the conditions in the mosque,” he concluded. (Reta)*
