BANDUNG, unpas.ac.id – On Tuesday, 10 August 2021, Muslims commemorate the Hijri New Year 1 Muharram 1443 H. The commemoration of 1 Muharram feels special for Muslims because it coincides with the event of the Prophet Muhammad’s migration from Mecca to Medina.
According to the Head of Islamic Syiar Study and Development Institution (Lembaga Pengkajian dan Pengembangan Syiar Islam) Universitas Pasundan, Dr. H. Tata Sukayat, M.Ag., spirit of hijrah (lit. migration) and Hijri New Year are closely related. Historically, the hijrah of Prophet Muhammad PBUH was meant as a migration to a better side, from one place to another.
However, after the Prophet won the Mecca Fathu, hijrah (lit. migration) was no longer interpreted that way. If it is associated with current conditions, there are at least three types of hijrah that can be carried out substantively, namely hijrah from ignorance, hijrah from polytheism to monotheism, and hijrah from divisive traditions to solid unity.
“In such cases, we need to fight for ignorance, so the spirit in seeking for knowledge, reading, studying and doing discussion would not end here only. The efforts of doing migration to strengthen monotheism from all polytheism and misguidance must also be carried out, especially during Covid-19 pandemic, when many people are almost desperate and lost their way. That is where tauhid is needed,” he said.
In the middle of current uncertainty, humans should have their tauhid, be self-surrendered and believe that everything comes from Allah SWT. Humans will not be tested beyond their limit and believe that every test of life will probably end quickly.
“If a faithful person is afflicted with problems, he/she will focus on facing the test. He/she became a person who is patient, close, and united with Allah SWT. Rest assured, if you always involve Allah SWT in all your activities, even the most difficult problems can be solved,” he explained.
The migration from the divisive tradition is also an important point, because the phenomenon of attacking each other, criticizing without a solution, even bringing down one’s good name is now increasingly massive on social media. This is what will complicate and cloud the atmosphere of life, while humans should practice the nature of ukhuwah (brotherhood).
“Let us do the Ukhuwah Diniyah (a different-religion brotherhood), Ukhuwah Islamiyah (a fellow-moslems brotherhood) and Ukhuwah Wathaniya (a national brotherhood) in our daily life. These are good and relevant to the Sundanese basic principle: silih asah, silih asih, silih asuh,” he continued.
In interpreting the momentum of 1 Muharram 1443 H, Unpas commemorated it by holding an online study activity and bringing in the ulema scholar Prof. Dr. Komarudin Hidayat as a speaker.
The theme brought in this event was “Implementasi Spirit Piagam Madinah dalam Konteks Keislaman dan Keindonesiaan”. The theme was selected as in line with the Madinah Declaration which was after initiated by Prophet Muhammad PBUH as leader of religion and was able to unite the lives between Moslems and non-Moslems.
“Indonesia is a not a secular country, because religion was written in the 1945 Constitution and Pancasila. State and religion need are closely related to each other. The state can build the religion if people have their own harmony, morality and integrity. Religion also needs the state as an intermediary when there are things that intersect with the expression of religious behaviour,” he said.
These were the reason which became the basis for taking the theme, so that the spirit of the Prophet’s Hijrah becomes a motivation for pilgrims to be grown in Indonesia. On Wednesday, 11 August 2021, the study will begin at 09.00 WIB on the Zoom Meeting application and be broadcasted live on Pas TV. The study is open to 500-100 participants, both from Unpas and the general public. (Reta)*
