International accreditation is an attempt for the university to show that the department has their own quality assurance system which is recognized internationally. Obtaining international accreditation is expected to provide benefits for universities and departments.
“The benefits included improving students’ interest for certain department, knowing students’ preparedness level to get into professional field, making the mobility of student exchange easier since they have certain qualification, and so on,” he continued.
This seminar on international accreditation is considered important, especially in last 2020, Unpas has been currently preparing two of its departments to be submitted for international accreditation; which are Department of Management and Food Engineering.
Rector of Unpas, Prof. Dr. Ir. H. Eddy Jusuf Sp, M.Si., M.Kom., IPU stated that international accreditation is not only about privilege, but also an effort to actualize the vision to be international academic community (world-class university) upholding Sundanese and Islamic value.
Apart from having global recognition, international accreditation also represents the university itself, especially when it relates to the Framework of National Qualification Indonesia (Kerangka Kualifikasi Nasional Indonesia, KKNI) or graduates’ ranking.
“International recognition is important to carry out in order to equate Bachelor graduates from both domestic and foreign country. If we succeed to get international accreditation, we need to improve human resource and expand our collaboration network with other foreign university,” he concluded. (Reta)*
