BANDUNG, unpas.ac.id – Coinciding with the Hijri New Year 1 Muharram 1443 H, Universitas Pasundan held an online study entitled “Implementasi Spirit Piagam Madinah dalam Konteks Keislaman dan Keindonesiaan” on Wednesday, 11 August 2021.
The study presented Rector of Universitas Islam Internasional Indonesia (UIII) as well as Professor in UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, Prof. Dr. Komaruddin Hidayat, an ulema who is experienced in Islamic context and national political struggle in Indonesia.
The event was hosted by Head of Study and Development for Islamic Syiar Institution (Lembaga Pengkajian dan Pengembangan Syiar Islam, LPPSI) Dr. H. Tata Sukayat, M.Ag and opened by the speech of Unpas Rector, Prof. Dr. Ir. H. Eddy Jusuf Sp., M.Si., M.Kom., IPU., Head of Pasundan Foundation of Higher Education (YPT Pasundan) Dr. H. Makbul Mansyur, M.Si and Head of PB Paguyuban Pasundan Prof. Dr. H. M. Didi Turmudzi, M.Si.
On his speech, the Rector conveyed the relevance between the study and Unpas’s goals in actualizing the academic environment which is pengkuh agamana and luhung elmuna. He thought that the balance between religion and science was important.
“We all notice that Unpas combines religion, science and culture. This is in line with the condition that requires a physical development is certainly begun with establishing the soul, mental and spiritual mind of a nation,” he said.
Furthermore, he also said about the phenomenon of secularism which leads human switching on into science-and-technology-based system compared to the divine value, whereas the religion becomes the source of values and norms which are able to provide solution for every problem of human’s life.
“Science-and-technology-based value is considered more qualified in accommodate human’s interest. However, the system of value that was made by human cannot compete to the relativity law which is finally going to create the emptiness, life disorientation and even dehumanization in several aspects of life,” he continued.
Meanwhile, Head of Pasundan Foundation of Higher Education Dr. H. Makbul Mansyur, M.Si strongly advised to more than 450 participants to take the moral lesson of this Islamic New Year commemoration. There were at least four things to be taken meaningfully in the Islamic’s great momentum.
“First, we need to be grateful and thoughtful. Second, in this current situation and condition, we need to keep strengthening our brotherhood and familyhood, including solidarity. Third, we need to stay on focus (istiqamah) in fighting for the rights. Fourth, we need to improve the spirit of change with full of creativity and innovation,” he said.
In his brief speech, Head of PB Paguyuban Pasundan Prof. Dr. H. M. Didi Turmudzi, M.Si also gave his words that this commemoration was a momentum to rebuild the hard-working commitment in keeping, maintaining and developing Islamic Syiar, both within Unpas and Paguyuban Pasundan.
After conveying the speech, the event was continued with the study explained clearly by Prof. Dr. Komarudin Hidayat about the context of Madinah Charter. It was related to three powers in the human self which needed to be synchronized, namely physics, mind set and heart.
