Sumpah Profesi) which was held offline and online at Unpas FKIP Building, Jalan Tamansari No. 6-8, Bandung, on Friday, 31 December 2021.

As stated by Dean of Unpas FKIP, Dr. H. Uus Toharudin, M.Pd, as many as 431 students were announced to graduate on that session.

“The total of graduates in 2021 are as many as 431 of 554 students registered. This event was held hybrid and attended by students spread in 34 provinces,” he said.

He also stated this announcement is a form of inauguration for students of Department of Teacher’s Profession Education who have already undergone the series of long process, starting from attending certain courses, regulations, as well as activities. They have also been supervised by teachers and experts in the best possible way.

“We hope these new graduates would be able to be the professional academic teachers, give their best teaching to their students, as well as able to create a creative and innovative learning design; so that the teaching process could be much easier, more comfortable and able to reach the target,” he wished.

Meanwhile, Rector of Universitas Pasundan, Prof. Dr. Ir. H. Eddy Jusuf Sp, M.Si., M.Kom., IPU also congratulated and appreciated these graduates. He also stated that being a teacher was a noble profession.

“Being a teacher is a really noble profession, since it will last long. They are also going to be the facilitator to support the students’ success,” he said.

Prof. Eddy also mentioned that today teachers should be able to adapt to the improvement of increasing technology. In this disruption era, teachers are expected to keep making synergy in guarding students’ literacy; since teachers is not always in the frontliners, but also along with their students. Even more, in the era of information system which is getting more open, there are a lot of opportunities for students to obtain either information or knowledge first.

“Therefore, a teacher should be able to ‘update’ and keep the spirit, perspective and competence. Today, it is not enough for teachers to only prepare their pedagogical skill, but also cyber pedagogic; so that they are able to adapt to current development,” said the Rector.

On that similar occasion, Head of Pasundan Foundation of Higher Education (YPT Pasundan), Dr. H. Makbul Mansyur, M.Si also stated that teachers have extraordinary role, especially in the 4.0-to-5.0 era.

“Teachers have to race against the challenges of increasingly sophisticated technology, there is a teacher’s role that cannot be replaced by robots or machines, so we do not get left behind with students,” he said.

He also wished that these graduates would be the experts in their fields and have extraordinary affective, cognitive and psychomotor skills in guiding their students in the middle of challenging era.

“A teacher should be able to design a creative learning. She/he does not only teach the students swim in the pool, but also in the ocean,” he explained.

On that occasion, Head of Department of Teachers’ Profession Education, Dr. H. Dadang Iskandar, M.Pd also attended while scientific speech was delivered by Head of Team Work for Teachers’ Profession Education of Kemendikbudristek RI, Dr. Hj. Elvira, M.Si. (Rico)*
