BANDUNG, unpas.ac.id – Podcast is expected to be the new promising industry for content makers. At first, podcast was only taking usage of audio media, but now it is starting to get into visual media.
However, the skyrocketing popularity of podcast has not been in line with the broadcast capability properly. This factor makes people reluctant to start producing podcast and choose to be the listener only.
To overcome this, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) Universitas Pasundan holds a training on podcast production in the event of community service in Kelurahan Cigadung, Cibeunying Kaler, Bandung, on Wednesday, 23 February 2022.
This training is targeted to the youths in Karang Taruna Berkarya. This PKM is a presentation by Unpas teacher in Department of Communication Studies, M. Fazri Candra, S.I.Kom., M.I.Kom who is also the host of Simamaung Podcast.
“Aspects which were conveyed include steps for creating a podcast, how to use its equipment, determining the target audience, as well as how to promote content on social media platforms,” he said.
A content, as he stated, must be wrapped creatively and freshly in order to attract the audience to stay and listen. The context options also vary, starting from branding of local potential, education, QnA, tips, comedy, motivation, inspiration, as well as contents which are relatable to daily life.
“Making or creating a podcast is not like radio; there are a lot of applications which can be used to record and publish the podcast itself. It is very flexible, easy, cheap, listenable everywhere; whenever it takes,” he said.
Besides presenting the coaching/training, Unpas FISIP PKM team will also provide assistance to produce podcast broadcast to improve communication skills more effectively.
He believes that creative potential of young people in Cigadung, in general and Karang Taruna Berkarya, in particular, can be transferred through podcasts, especially with the support of digital media.
“Young people must take the advantage of technology, use social media as an effective and efficient information/promotion facility. Karang Taruna Berkarya should be the centre of creativity in Cigadung,” he concluded. (Reta)*
