BANDUNG, unpas.ac.id – In order to support government program in forming herd immunity, Universitas Pasundan holds a Covid-19 Vaccination Week for all Unpas community members, students and public which will be running for three days, Thursday-Saturday, 5-7 August 2021 at Campus V, Jalan Sumatera No. 41, Bandung.
The first-batch vaccination program is enthusiastically welcomed by the public and the number of participants joined the program reached to 3.520. Previously, Paguyuban Pasundan along with Unpas Faculty of Medicine and Bandung Health Board (Dinas Kesehatan Kota Bandung) has already held the similar program for academic staffs and employees.
In his speech, Rector of Unpas Prof. Dr. Ir. Eddy Jusuf Sp, M.Si., M.Kom., IPU stated that vaccination for students and public will be held continuously as an actualization of community service.
“This event is a continuity from the previous similar vaccination program held within Paguyuban Pasundan. Vaccination is one of our attempts in supporting government program to reach the required percentage of herd immunity in Indonesia,” he said.
The program was fully entrusted to the team of Unpas Faculty of Medicine which more or less consists of 40 members, including doctors, health staffs and administration officers. Unpas also gets a vaccination procurement from Polrestabes Bandung, so it will be possible for the program to reach 4000 participants.
In addition, vaccination program was concentrated at Unpas Campus V and secretariate of Paguyuban Pasundan since the one holding a leading sector of Covid-19 Vaccination Week is Faculty of Medicine which is also located in Campus V.
“This program will continue to be implemented until herd immunity is established, because there are only 23 percent of vaccination have been implemented. It is also a form of support to the country from Unpas and Paguyuban Pasundan,” he explained.
Head of Covid-19 Vaccination Week program Dr. H. Deden Ramdan, M.Si stated that this program will be divided into three sessions: first day is for 1000 people, second day 1.150 people and third day for the rest of them.
“On the program, participants require to pay attention strictly to health protocol considering that Bandung is still Level 4 Alerted. For those who have comorbid record, please fulfil the form from Kemenkes as clear as possible,” he explained.
He also urged the participants who have already been vaccinated to head back to their house in order to avoid crowds.
“Vaccination week is Unpas social responsibility for the community. Let us vaccinate, since it is the important element to get out of crisis,” he continued.
Besides Unpas, other universities under the supervision of Pasundan Foundation of Higher Education (YPT Pasundan), namely STKIP Pasundan Cimahi, STIE Pasundan Bandung and STH Pasundan Sukabumi will also be going to hold similar program for students and public.
It was stated by Head of YPT Pasundan Dr. H. Makbul Mansyur, M.Si. This will be focused on the public and students.
“We hope it would be still continuing, especially by seeing people’s enthusiasm. We hope all stakeholders would support it, so we also could get much healthier and free,” he concluded. (Reta)*
