BANDUNG, unpas.ac.id – The development of digital technology and digital-formed information access has its own challenge and opportunity as well. One of the concerns which appear on this situation is the fact that the amount of young generation accessing the internet is high, approximately 70 million people.
These group of people spend time to browse/surf the internet, both on their cellular phone, personal computer or laptop, around 5 hours per day.
The high penetration of internet for young generation certainly worries a lot of parties. Even more, the facts show that the Indonesian’s children’s access data on the pornographic contents reach to 25 thousand people per day.
To help improve the knowledge, understanding and skill of digital literacy, team of Unpas FISIP PKM led by Dr. Ine Mariane, M.Si, consisting of Dr. Yuce Sariningsih, M.Si., Riksa Alam, Hari Abdul Aziz and Silmi Razanah carried out an event called ‘Bina Kreativitas’ with the speaker Erik, S.T., M.Kom to be a Smart Vlogger.
“This event is a program of socialization, training, assistance and technical guidance. It was focused on the youths of Karang Taruna, Kelurahan Cigadung, Cibeunying Kaler District, Bandung,” he explained, on Thursday, 30 June 2022.
Based on the result analysis, the knowledge and understanding on digital literacy of the youths in Karang Taruna Cigadung was still low. Their skill on literacy digital and intensity of their writing update in the platform they have made was still not optimal yet.
“People (the youths) in Karang Taruna Cigadung is expected to be able to find out and understand digital literacy, as well as use their skill safely in updating the contents on their platform,” he continued.
By being a Smart Vlogger, the youths in Karang Taruna Cigadung are able to strengthen the community’s social institution in preventing online violence and cybercrime.
“Most important thing is, they themselves could be independent and be the productive generation by using their own website, Karta Ciber (Cibeunying Berkarya),” he concluded. (Reta)**
