BANDUNG, unpas.ac.id – Universitas Pasundan (Unpas) is currently preparing an offline learning which is targeted to be implemented next July 2021. This is in line with the circular letter given by the Ministry of Education and Culture regarding the implementation of offline learning in the beginning of second semester 2020/2021 academic year.
According to Rector of Unpas, Prof. Dr. Ir. H. Eddy Jusuf Sp, M.Si., M.Kom., IPU, the offline learning can start in July 2021 only if the Covid-19 case in Indonesia, especially in Bandung has already been decreasing enough.
“We are ready to ‘restart’ the offline learning in July 2021. But we still have to wait and see about the technical implementation,” he explained at Unpas Campus IV, Jalan Dr. Setiabudhi Bandung, on Thursday (March 25th, 2021).
The Rector said that Unpas has currently been more optimistic to hold an offline learning, compared to the time when received a similar circular letter past January. He said that confidently because all teachers and staffs within Universitas Pasundan have already been vaccinated.
“I have my own optimism [to hold the offline learning] this July, because all teachers and staffs are already vaccinated. Last January, the vaccines were still under-developed. All universities in West Java also stated that they were not in the ‘right condition’ to restart the offline learning,” he added.
If the offline learning can be restarted next July, Unpas would prioritize the 2000-er students, because they have never come to campus before. Nevertheless, if the case condition is not yet to be optimal and its number is still decreasing, the offline learning would be carried out through blended learning (a combination between offline and online learning).
“If the condition is not yet to be optimal, we would do the online learning, as usual, or at least blended learning. We are allowed to come to campus for doing practice or laboratory activity, by always putting a strict health protocol,” he explained.
Other than doing vaccination for teachers and staffs, Unpas would also add the other supporting health protocol, such as washbasin spot and thermogun. Avoiding crowded place becomes the important thing that needs to be paid attention to, apart from applying health protocol, such as washing hands and putting face mask.
The Rector added that the main obstacle in implementing offline learning in universities is because there are lots of students coming from various areas and provinces. Therefore, its preparation should be planned carefully.
“The preparation at school is much easier and simple, because the students come from the near location while it is much harder to prepare the offline learning in the university because its students come from various provinces,” he ended. (Reta Amaliyah S)*
