“Alhamdulillah, this year Rector Unpas Cup is going to hold again. Its participants are mostly from internal staffs; but few of them are from external,” he said.
The Rector also added that apart from the purpose of celebrating the anniversary, this shooting championship is also a gathering event to tighten the togetherness and solidarity between Unpas academic civitas.
Participants are required to pay attention to the rule and procedures for shooting, both in using long and short barrels. In addition, it is important for participants to understand shooting stances and positions.
“Every year, the champion is always different; everybody got to hold the cup. In last 2019 Rector Unpas Cup, Rectorate’s team won the general champion,” he said.
Related to shooting sports, since 2016, Unpas has already established shooting club ‘Pasundan Shooting Club (PSC)’ officially opened by Head of Bandung Pengcab Perbakin, Teddy S. Kardin. PSC is not only targeted for Unpas academic civitas, but also for general public.
In addition, Unpas PSC has its own shooting field, located behind Rector’s Building, Unpas Campus IV. The type of weapon used in the club is an air gun and does not contain gunpowder. It is also not part of the Student Activity Unit (Unit Kegiatan Mahasiswa, UKM), but it is under the supervision of Unpas Rector.
By the establishment of PSC, Rector of Unpas, Prof. Dr. Ir. H. Eddy Jusuf Sp. M.Si., M.Kom., IPU wished that Unpas could give birth to professional athletes that will strengthen this type of sports, especially in national level (West Java).
“In undergoing this certain hobby [shooting], it certainly needs discipline. Even more, doing this kind of sport [shooting] requires patience, accuracy, concentration, and emotional control,” he concluded. (Reta)*
