BANDUNG, unpas.ac.id – Pengkuh agamana, luhung élmuna, jembar budayana, these are motto carried out by Universitas Pasundan and should be understood by students once they got into the campus.
After officially becoming part of Unpas, these mottos are not as slogan only, but should be implemented with the behavior and attitude.
To actualize it, Unpas works with Sundanese Culture Insitutuion (Lembaga Budaya Sunda, LBS) and Institution for Studies and Development of Islamic Syiar (Lembaga Pengkajian dan Pengembangan Syiar Islam, LPPSI) to join on the process of formulation and training of students’ character building.
The approach of character building in Unpas held into Sundanese noble philosophy aims to form the excellent and perfectly-cultured students. This will thus create specific character of the students: pengkuh agamana meaning having the faith and devotion to God; luhung elmuna meaning mastering the knowledge and technology; and jembar budayana meaning being able to understand the whole meaning of culture and not losing self-identity, as well as holding tightly to their principles.
On its important role, LBS actualizes the motto jembar budayana by building and making Sundanese culture into the hearts of every student. It was also implemented through Sundanese musical practice, improving Bahasa Sunda course subject and currently planning the corner of Sundanese music and language.
“LBS has strategic plan in building the atmosphere of Sundanese culture in Unpas. Other than providing Sundanese subject in formal course, LBS also optimizes it through various methods and media,” explained the Head of LBS Dr. H. Wawan Setiawan, M.Sn., on Tuesday, July 13th, 2021.
Meanwhile, LPPSI which is also the main core of Unpas’ vision and mission also takes part in implementing character building through the aspects of understanding, experience, religious moderation and maximizing religious infrastructure.
“Aspect of understanding is carried out through training, religious gathering and research. Experience gives students opportunity to maintain and glorify the mosque. Religious moderation promotes tolerance and completes each other so that students can feel their heart at peace,” said the Head of LPPSI Dr. H. Tata Sukayat, M.Ag.
Therefore, to create students who are faithful to God, broad-minded and perfectly cultured (pengkuh agamana, luhung elmuna, jembar budayana), LBS and LPPSI keep trying to be integrated. Both of them have their own obsession to be the center of collaboration between Islamic and Sundanese values. (Reta)*
