BANDUNG, unpas.ac.id – Last mid-July, seven (7) students of Universitas Pasundan were sent off to attend Thematic Field Study (Kuliah Kerja Nyata, KKN) program officially launched by LLDIKTI Region IV West Java-Banten.
The Field Study entitled “Perguruan Tinggi Serentak Bergerak, Bersinergi, dan Berkolaborasi untuk Jabar Juara-Banten Mandiri, Maju, dan Sejahtera” was attended by 556 students from 106 private universities in LLDIKTI Region IV.
Unpas students were entirely placed in Pangandaran District, Desa Cintratu (2 students), Selasari (1 student), Babakan (1 student), Cijulang (1 student), Putrapinggan (1 student) and Purbahayu (1 student).
One of the participants from Department of Business Administration (FISIP) Reja Agung Diana also shared his 3-week experience doing community service in Desa Babakan, Babakan District.
Helping Optimize the Village’s potential publication
Reza said that despite being in a coastal area, the beach around Desa Babakan has not become a major tourist destination. In fact, the charm offered by the east coast is no less charming than the west coast of Pangandaran.
“Even though it is a seafood supplier area, I think there needs to be a special destination to increase income from the tourism sector. The potential of the East Coast of Pangandaran has not been promoted properly and that is one of the problems we are currently helping,” he said on Tuesday, 9 August 2022.
According to him, the East Coast of Pangandaran has the potential to be a tourist destination. Moreover, there is now Jembatan Merah which has become an icon and a new attraction for tourists.
Apart from connecting Cikidang fish-reloaded port to the area of East Coast of Pangandaran, Jembatan Merah also allows people/tourist to see the beauty of beach while enjoying the sunrise or sunset, as well as seeing the hustle-and-bustle of fisherman after coming from the sea.
“Although the village is almost fully equipped and facilitated, there is no supporting factor, such as website connection. So, we try to help optimize the usage of technology by creating a website to expose Desa Babakan’s true potential and information to the public,” Reja continued.
According to the theme raised at the event, Reja wants to optimize this opportunity to build the village and prosper the community; starting from optimizing education, empowering people, developing MSMEs, as well as taking advantage of the current natural resources.
Spreading Benefits and Absorbing Positive Things
Through this thematic Field Study, Reja did not only spread benefits to the location where he served, but also absorb positive things from people. He felt the typical culture and togetherness of the people which has almost faded in urban city life.
“On one side, they have not been fully aware on the development and easiness of the technology. But on the other hand, that is what make them close to each other, children cheerfully playing without having been worried of gadget,” he continued.
Reja who have been previously involved in Unpas Thematic Field Study Citarum Harum and community service program in Pangalengan hoped that his presence in this field study could contribute benefits to the society and be a role model for other students.
“I adhered to the advice from the Rector of Unpas when he sent us off. We must be able to adapt in the community environment by adjusting their language, culture, and habits. If we can take our position precisely, people will automatically accept us and provide good feedback. Unpas’ name will also be better later,” he said. (Reta)**
