BANDUNG, unpas.ac.id – Getting towards the 109th Anniversary of Paguyuban Pasundan, Postgraduate Program of Universitas Pasundan holds a National Seminar: the 2024 Election and Its Prospect for Nation’s Future on Saturday, 2 July 2022.
Long before the election takes place, political maneuvers are getting prepared to their side. These maneuvers and political issues can be seen from the rise of internal conflicts in political parties, issues of election cancellation, the appearance of few names to be elected for president and vice president, as well as the rise of political parties listed in the Ministry of Law and Human Rights.
Therefore, Director of Unpas Postgraduate Program Prof. Dr. H. M. Didi Turmudzi, M.Si said that in facing the 2024 Election, political figures need to remember and re-understand the purposes of the founding fathers’ goals written in the opening of constitution.
“Remember, the government should protect its people, establish public welfare, educate people and carry out world order based on independence, eternal peace and social justice,” he confirmed.
In terms of protecting the Indonesian people, the public should feel protected by the state from poverty, unemployment, increased crime, widespread drug use, human trafficking practices, bureaucratic arrogance, social disappointment and jealousy, and life insecurity.
“Protecting all of Indonesians means that our homeland must be maintained in its integrity, fertility, as well as its biodiversity, biota, and genetics. Do not let other islands be lost, forests prone to logging, seas looted,” he said.
According to him, culture conception is not only about biological conception. Culture conception, especially to instil Pancasila in our heart, is the process of character building.
“Make Pancasila the basis for improving the quality of education. Education does not only produce intelligent brains, but also achieves traditional progress, self-respect, eliminates cultural insecurities, and increases unity,” he added.
These values and norms are compiled to fill the national culture as a guide for society in the life of the nation and state.
“Meanwhile, in carrying out world order, the role of Indonesian government is commendable. Hopefully this seminar would produce something we need to welcome the 2024 election,” he said.
Seminar presenters, Dr. Idham Holik, M.Si (Head of Indonesian KPU 2022-2027) discussed about the dynamic and readiness of KPU in implementing the 2024 Election, while Prof. Dr. Firman Noor, M.A (Head of Central Office for LIPI Political Research) reviewed on the 2024 Election as the momentum of strengthening the democracy.
This seminar was also completed by the discussion of the 2024 Election’s goal for the nation’s future presented by Prof. Dr. Cecep Darmawan, M.H., M.Si (Professor of Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia). (Reta)**
