BANDUNG, unpas.ac.id – Student Executive Board (Badan Eksekutif Mahasiswa, BEM) Universitas Pasundan formed in the congress trial session in 8-10 October, has been officially announced on Friday, 26 November 2021. The inauguration announcement was kindly welcomed, especially when it has been lacking of authority.
The inauguration of Unpas BEM 2021/2022 was held at the Hall of Mandala Saba Otto Iskandar Dinata, attended by Rector, Vice Rector II, Vice Rector III, Vice Deans III and other BEM representatives of each faculty.
Winson Agung Prasetya, student of Communication Studies Department, Faculty of Social and Political Science (FISIP) was appointed to be the Student President (Presiden Mahasiswa, Presma) BEM Unpas 2021/2022, while Vice Presma was appointed to Ujang Amrullah, a student of Mechanical Engineering Department, Faculty of Engineering.
BEM administrators consisting of 10 persons were also officially inaugurated by Unpas Rector, Prof. Dr. Ir. H. Eddy Jusuf Sp, M.Si., M.Kom., IPU. Rector emphasized that the inauguration of Unpas BEM is a new stage in strengthening the commitment and carrying out the productive programs for the next one year.
“Hopefully, Unpas BEM could be able to organize every existing potential. Thus, information related to the interest, academic and non-academic stuffs sent by the university could be well informed through BEM,” he said.
The Rector also urged that after the inauguration, BEM should be able to carry out its role as the activator/ motivator to break the perception stating that BEM cannot provide a significant influence for both students and institution.
“Even with 10 person, Unpas BEM must be actively promoting and moving the student activity massively, well-organized and collaboratively,” he continued.
Furthermore, the Rector also hoped that Unpas BEM would be able to give its benefits, not only within Unpas, but also with other similar institution in other university. Through the collaboration, students can also take participation in obtaining the Key Performance Indicator (Indikator Kinerja Utama, IKU).
“All parties need to obtain additional result to feel the same benefits from Unpas BEM; therefore, when it comes to the retirement, there will be a memorable event recorded to remember,” he confirmed.
Vice Rector III, Dr. H. Deden Ramdan, M.Si appreciated BEM congress which has been held and completed in two days. On his speech, he also stated there are three main points related to BEM continuity in the future.
“First, I, as the founder taking constitutional duties in guiding and helping the Rector for Student Affairs wish that the pandemic does not disturb your productivity. Do not let the program undone when it is already formed. Express your concerns openly and be a critical activist,” he stated.
Second, BEM should see the other student organizational target and movement to be implemented. Leaders of the university, along with the staffs, will walk hand-in-hand, guide and open the communication widely in order to reach the actual work program.
“Third, perform your works and achievements. There are a lot of tasks and challenges out there. Make advantage of 8 programs of MBKM initiated by Kemendikbudristek; we have already provided the technical team, so you only have to run it. The main thing is, keep improving your potential and bring back the good name of our institution,” he urged.
Meanwhile, the chosen Presma, Winson admitted that he was grateful by the re-establishment of BEM; at least there will be another sacrifice to pass and agreement to commit, in order to take responsibility of the congress. Unpas BEM is optimistic that they could be more fast-forward in solving problems.
“Therefore, Unpas BEM can pass the clear assignment to the next period. Moreover, after the previous management, there was a temporary leadership which hampered the appreciation from the faculty. In the future, we will produce ideas and works that Unpas students can obtain the result,” he concluded. (Reta)*
