76th Anniversary of PMI, Unpas KSR Commander: PMI, as the Frontmost Humanity Guard

BANDUNG, unpas.ac.id – This year, the 76th anniversary of Indonesian Red Cross (Palang Merah Indonesia, PMI) is still being celebrated in the midst of Covid-19 pandemic. Bringing the theme of ‘Bergerak Bersam untuk Sesama’, the anniversary celebration of PMI is switched into the spirit of doing nation’s recovery.

For Volunteer Corps (Korps Sukarela, KSR) of PMI Unit Universitas Pasundan under the supervision of Vice Rector III Student Affairs Dr. H. Deden Ramdan, M.Si., this anniversary brought its own spirit to improve the volunteers’ toughness and preparedness. The organization running on humanity field has worked on handling the disaster, especially in the midst of Covid-19 pandemic.

For the past year, Unpas KSR PMI has been routinely holding the program with Bandung PMI as a form of actual proof in handling Covid-19. It includes spraying disinfectant, health protocol socialization, as well as becoming volunteer for vaccination program.

“We join Bandung PMI, spraying disinfectant in East Bandung, promoting socialization about health protocol through social media, becoming one of Task Force members on Handling Covid-19 in certain areas in Bandung, and taking participation in Unpas Covid-19 Vaccination Week,” explained the Commander of Unpas KSR PMI, Rezky Hidayat Aminullah, on Friday, 17 September 2021.

Not much different than the previous year, Unpas KSR PMI will be always prepared for humanity calls, especially in promoting the health protocol socialization. They are also currently planning and preparing Unpas as a disaster-alerted campus.

He thinks, to help people, PMI volunteers should have a tough and powerful mental. Volunteers are the frontmost humanity guard required to act quickly if the society need some helps. Therefore, although it has been just inaugurated in 8 September 2021, he is willing to prepare his members of KSR PMI as volunteers who are always ready to help and move to handle the disaster, both from the skills, mentality, planning, and equipment on the field.

“Volunteers should have a high-sense of humanity. If we are not ready and prepared, we cannot be the frontmost guard for the people,” he added.

He also appreciated the involvement of PMI and other volunteers in breaking the spread of Covid-19. They are not only struggling for giving their power, but also their mind and life for the sake of the people’ goodness.

“Hopefully, PMI would be always the frontmost guard for people who need help, without giving so much difference based on the levels, race, ethnicity, and religion whatsoever. Keep re-maximizing the operational movement when facing the disaster, do not be quick to be satisfied with what you have done, since our task is still on going,” he concluded. (Reta)*
