BANDUNG, unpas.ac.id – The topic of creative economy is currently gaining popular attention and discussion between young entrepreneurs and society, including academic community in Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) Universitas Pasundan.
In line with tougher business challenge, Unpas FEB held the 5.0 Creative Economy Innovation Festival (Festival Inovasi Ekonomi Kreatif, Fiektif) which consisted of competition of creative and innovative products, as well as webinar entitled ‘How to Become an Innovative Young Entrepreneur’, on Thursday, 23 December 2021.
The webinar presented speakers who are as well as practitioner in their fields, namely Secretary of Bandung Office for Culture and Tourism (Disbudbar), Tantan Syurya Santana, S.Sos., M.Si., and West Java BPD HIPMI Council, Kadin Internal Wakomptap, CEO of JNC Cookies, as well as Owner of BOBER Café, Jodi Janitra.
According to the Dean of Unpas FEB, Dr. H. Atang Hermawan, SE., MSIE., Ak., CSRS., CSRA, entrepreneurship is an ability of taking advantage of opportunity by creating something new and different through creativity and innovation.
The process begun with the coming of idea and thoughts supported by five basics; intellectuality, social and morality (honesty and trust to form a public image), mental (which is based on religion and bravery to face the risk and challenge), and materials.
“As the entrepreneurial spirit is raising, it would also lead to the increase of young generation’s spirit to open the job opportunity by creating business. Therefore, in the future, young generation would not be a job-seeker anymore,” he said.
Technological developments have given rise to a variety of new business models that are adaptive to the digital era, such as online payments, subscription models, and so on. Digital technology allows businesses to exploit other opportunities because they have various advantages.
“Digital businesses offer a variety of choices, expand market reach, provide convenience for customers, and potentially generate unlimited profits. For that, we need the right business model so that an entrepreneur can achieve business success,” he explained.
Referring to several research results, the promising business in this digital era include establishing online ship, affiliated business, dropship, YouTuber, social media influencer, digital content writing, online teaching, providing website and mobile application development services, selling digital products, CEO consultants and podcasters.
“We hope this study could enlighten the teachers and students, especially in carrying out/establishing business, which consists of business planning aspects, business appropriateness, internal and external factors affecting to business sustainability, as well as responding to other business opportunities,” he said.
On the occasion, Secretary of Bandung Disbudpar, Tantan Syurya Santana, S.Sos., M.Si conveyed the strategy of recovery for tourism and creative economy after Covid-19 pandemic; while Jodi Janitra talked more about how he started and ran his business so that he has many business units as he does now.
The webinar ended with the announcement of the competition with the best creative idea. It was announced by the Chief Executive of Fiektif 5.0, Dr. Inda Ratnamiasih, SE., M.Sc. The winners consist of the first-place winner, three runners-up, and one champion for favourite business idea.
