BANDUNG, unpas.ac.id – Law enforcement is set for people; so, people have rights to evaluate and monitor the law enforcement itself.
To strengthen the observation of performance and attorney’s attitude in the juridical process, Indonesian Commission of Attorney signs the Memorandum of Understanding and collaboration agreement with Universitas Pasundan and Faculty of Law.
The signing set with Focus Group Discussion (FGD) was held at the Ballroom of The Trans Luxury Hotel, on Friday, 4 March 2022. The memorandum was signed by Unpas Rector Prof. Dr. Ir. H. Eddy Jusuf Sp., M.Si., M.Kom., IPU and Head of Indonesian Commission of Attorney Dr. Barita Simanjuntak, SH., M.H., CFRA. As for the Faculty of Law, it was signed and represented by its Dean Dr. Anthon F. Susanto, S.H., M.Hum.
The event was also attended by Assistant for Special Crimes (Asisten Tindak Pidana Khusus, Aspidsus) for West Java High Court (Kejati) Riyono, S.H., M.Hum who represented the Head of West Java Prosecutor’s Office Asep N. Mulyana and Unpas Vice Rector III Dr. H. Deden Ramdan, M.Si.
Rector highly welcomes, appreciates and sends his gratitude to the Indonesian Commission of Attorney for their trust of having Unpas as their strategic partner.
“Unpas is proud to be the partner, especially when we have our own Faculty of Law. In the future, this collaboration is going to be the laboratory for students and teachers to carry out the activities related to law enforcement,” he said.
He thought that both students and teachers can get along with each other to implement the function and role of Indonesian Commission of Attorney, one of which is through the MBKM program.
“This signing certainly gives opportunity for legal experts, especially for academic civitas in Unpas Faculty of Law with Indonesian Commission of Attorney, to carry out clinical legal education (CLE),” he explained.
Head of Indonesian Commission of Attorney Dr. Barita Simanjuntak, S.H., M.H., CFRA sait that Unpas has already given contribution to the Attorney’s Office by its alumni. Based on the data owned by the Commission, as he stated, there are a lot of Unpas alumni who currently serve for important position at the office.
He considered that the trend of law enforcement in the 21st century demands a large amount of authority which is not only sufficient from the internal party, but also involves all community.
“This collaboration is expected to create intellectual thoughts from universities as a contribution to enforcing the law, especially in the field surveillance. I believe that Unpas would be able to create ideal thoughts to carry out academic studies,” he said.
The studies will later support and encourage the performance accountability and quality of prosecution process. Students can also submit the internship and research program to obtain criminal statistic data needed which will later be connected to prosecutor’s duties.
“Hopefully Unpas and Faculty of Law could give much support, so that justice could really be felt within community. In accordance with the determination of Indonesian Commission of Attorney to realize a law that takes no sides, responsive, contextual, proportional and conscientious to the people,” said Baria.
After the signing, the event continued to an FGD entitled “Menggerakkan Peran Serta Civitas Akademika Kampus Dalam Rangka Mendukung Tugas dan Fungsi Komisi Kejaksaan RI”. (Reta)*
