Being the Front Guard in Overcoming Covid-19 Pandemic, Unpas Providing Incentives Money for Security Officers

Posted on August 16, 2021

BANDUNG, unpas.ac.id – Since Covid-19 disease spread last March 2021, Universitas Pasundan immediately took swift steps and actions to prevent the spread within campus environment. One of the actions were by providing incentives, in the form of supplement, to security officers as the front guard in protecting the campus. The supplements include Vitamin C, D and E, as well as hand sanitizer and health mask.

These supplements were regularly distributed every month to the security officers in all Unpas campuses. Supplements are provided to fulfill their nutritional needs and maintain their immunity.

“It [the supplement distribution] has been running for over than a year, starting from Covid-19 spread worldwide. Currently, it was distributed to the security officers especially, since they are the front-liners,” explained the Vice Rector II, Dr. Ir. Yudi Garnida, M.P., on Monday (June 21st, 2021).

Before entering the campus area, the security officers are in charge of checking body temperature using a thermo-gun on people who are willing to enter. Other preventive actions include by holding a work schedule distribution, providing hand washing facilities and hand sanitizers in every corner of the campus, intensifying Covid-19 health protocol and making Standard Operating Procedures for administrative implementation during the pandemic.

Pasundan foundation of Higher Education (Yayasan Pendidikan Tinggi Pasundan, YPT) has recently released an announcement letter on Working from Home (Bekerja dari Rumah, BDR) since the case of Covid-19 are getting high. Physical activities within the environment are limited into 25% of the total staffs.

Even though they are advised to work from home, the security officers are still on guard and making certain conditions to maintain the campus from too-much people or crowds. Not only limiting physical gatherings on and off campus, during the implementation of BDR, it is also not allowed for everyone within campus to carry out official activities outside the region.

Apart from that, it is also not allowed to accept guests except for urgent needs with a maximum of three people. This should be done by showing the results of Antigen-swab or PCR test. All employees are also required to implement and maintain a clean, healthy lifestyle, and apply the 5M principles (lit. Memakai masker, Mencuci tangan dengan sabun, Menjaga jarak, Menjauhi kerumunan, dan Mengurangi mobilitas) as well.

“Because they are the front-liners, security officers should always be at the campus, based on the schedule set by the coordinator,” he continued.

To make an optimal prevention, spread and overcoming of Covid-19, Unpas, through the Decree of Rector No. 110/Unpas R/SK/VI/2021 has also formed and assigned a Task Force Team at other campuses: Jalan Lengkong Besar Campus, Tamansari Campus, Setiabudhi Campus, and Sumatra Campus.

The Task Force are given authority to make decision as preventing effort to overcome Covid-19 disease by providing human resource distribution and other facilities required at each campuses. (Reta)*
