Four Things to Do as Unpas Student

Posted on October 3, 2021

BANDUNG, unpas.ac.id – Being a student means owning a heavier task to do, especially for those who are not native. Living days without parental supervision requires students to be more mature, independent, adaptable and responsible.

There are a lot of new things to face with, including new friends from various regions, uncertain course schedule, academic stuffs that must be completed independently, decision to graduate quickly, and being either active/ passive the students are when studying.

If there is a question, “What makes you continue to study in the university?”, there might be several different responses. The options are on your own, but these are good chances not to be missed while in Bandung studying at Universitas Pasundan.

  1. Experience various student activities – BEM to UKM

Do not waste your first-semester study. It is okay to be an ambitious student if you have positive goals that can boosts up your productivity. You also can find your existence through student activities and organization at campus. Avoid being a “home-campus” student without getting any valuable activities.

Use your time in the middle of classes to learn some interesting things outside class. There are a lot of student organization to attend to. Learn how to deal with organization in Student Executive Association (Badan Eksekutif Mahasiswa, BEM) or Student Community (Himpunan Mahasiswa, Hima) in each department, learn to know about art in Student Art Community (Lingkung Seni Mahasiswa, Lisma), hone an awareness in Volunteer Corps (Korps Sukarela, KSR), spend time in learning journalistic in Student Press Institution (Lembaga Pers Mahasiswa, LPM) Jumpa and many more are ones of the examples.

Just be sure, your experience of those activities will give you effects, more or less, when you are working, because you already understood how to manage time well, work with the team, and innovate with your brilliant ideas.

  1. Join Kampus Merdeka Program

You must have already known that students had the chance to get their 20 credits converted by participating in Merdeka Belajar – Kampus Merdeka program, haven’t you? This regulation was set by Ministry of Education to provide rights of learning for students in Indonesia outside their required courses in the study program.

This regulation was carried out in order to actualize the learning process in university which is flexible and autonomous. Through the achievement of innovative learning, students can easily get their goals/ target which consists of aspects of behaviour, knowledge and skill optimally.

Kampus Merdeka program consists of internship or work field, project at the village, student exchange, research, entrepreneurship, independent study, humanity project and teaching at school.

  1. Being a Scholarship ‘Hunter’

You do not have to have an outstanding GPA to get a scholarship, but there is nothing wrong with being serious about learning from the start to make your academic grade good. That would be even better if you have a brilliant track record.

In Unpas, you can join the selection of Jabar Future Leaders Scholarship (JFLS) from West Java Provincial Government, Superior Scholarship from Kemendikbudristek, Hafiz Scholarship for new students, and other scholarship from other institutions.

You can also join the competition of Outstanding Student (Mahasiswa Berprestasi, Mawapres) held once in every year. This competition relates to all kind of fields, including writing scientific work, building character, English competition, and competing on GPA. If you are not confident enough about your GPA, relax, this competition does not prioritize GPA as the only benchmark.

  1. Expand the Network, improve the soft skill, finish your assignment as student

For those who are taking Bachelor Degree, do not spend your time carelessly because four years of study will pass quickly. Just to be reminder, your success in the future does not only depend on how often you attend the class, but also on how your personality and mental are formed during college.

Expand your networks and improve your soft skill. Do not let your love life distract your goals, time, and mind. Get yourself used to reading books. Faculty’s library has complete collection of books. Every now and then, visit other campuses, do not just dwell on the faculty or study program. Anyway, you have to have more abilities to look different.

If you are already a final-semester student, get yourself prepared to do the final assignement. If you are persistent and determined, graduating on time is not something that is difficult to achieve. *(Reta)
