Indonesian Council of Perempuan Berdizkir, A Place for Increasing Worship and Spirit of Reading the Koran

Posted on January 17, 2022

BANDUNG, unpas.ac.id – It has been approximately 12 years since Indonesian Council of Perempuan Berdzikir (Majelis Perempuan Berdzikir Indonesia, MPBI) stood on its own. It is a foundation led by Dr. Hj. Erni Rusyani Ernawan, SE., MM., a teacher and Head of Research Institution (Lembaga Penelitian, Lemlit) Universitas Pasundan.

In the talk show broadcasted in TV Harmoni on Friday, 31 December 2021, Erni stated that MBPI focuses on its main programs and activities in Al-Irsyad Mosque, Kota Baru Parahyangan, Padalarang, West Bandung District.

Up until now, MPBI routinely holds programs of Itikaf Dhuha, Sepekan Khatam Alquran (Tadarus) started from the second day of Ramadhan, pilgrimage tourism, and religious studies. When the Covid-19 pandemic broke out, MPBI also made an effort to hold a prayer which was attended by 750 people.

In almost every activity held by MPBI, people are getting more interested to join and reaching thousands of people. Member of MPBI not only come from West Bandung District, but also outside the city and island, such as Jabodetabek and Sumatera.

“Itikaf Dhuha begins with dhuha prayer directed by the guide, beads prayer, tawasul, dhikr, prayer, reading Asmaul Husna, and muhasabah. After that, it was followed by tausiyah by the ustadz and questions and answers session,” she said.

Itikaf Dhuha often brings great ustadz and ulema, such as Evie Effendi, Erick Yusuf, Mamah Dedeh, Dai Nanang Qosim, Tengku Maulana, Tata Sukayat, and many more.

And so does the program of Sepekan Khatam Alquran. Although it was switched to the online method during Covid-19 pandemic, it does not decrease people’s enthusiasm. This program called ‘Tadarus on Zoom’ is indeed getting more productive because it is wrapped in a different way.

“Every week, we have already finished reading Koran every day; even more, we finished reading it twice a day. Two years of pandemic has given and found myself more productive; members are given homework to do, therefore, they fill their day with activities. Itikaf Dhuha was also carried out continuously, it never stops,” she continued.

From year to year, members of MPBI are increasing and developing. Because, what is emphasized is not only the aspect of mysticism or cleansing the soul, but also strengthening the familyhood.

“The side of mysticism is very important, because I want every people who have attended the program return with the increase of their worship, remembering the sins and mistakes they have made, getting used to the practice of the sunnah, and reflecting on themselves,” she said.

This is a reason for her to be more religious to prepare for the eternal afterlife.

“This condition has made me survive until now, even with extraordinary dynamics, none other than to make MBPI continues to run. The shortage is for sure, but I hope MBPI could survive when the time I am gone,” he concluded. (Reta)*
