BANDUNG, unpas.ac.id – Wargi Unpas, studying as one of medical students certainly is proud thing. Although the tuition fee is relatively above the average, being a medical student is not as easy as you think it is. Other than preparing yourselves mentally health, medical student should require a good understanding.

Medical students require to understand the medical science and pass two levels of education in order to be able to conduct medical practice, as well as provide health service to the society.

In Indonesian Standard of Teacher Competency, graduates of medical science should be able to implement biomedical sciences, humanities, clinical medicine, and public health/preventive medicine/community medicine related to the prevention of individual, family, and community health problems.

To obtain these abilities, medical students are required to perform in the laboratory as often as possible to conduct the practice related to the materials and skills needed in medical science.

To create a prospective professional doctor, Faculty of Medicine Universitas Pasundan has four laboratories to support the learning process, namely Biomedical Lab 1, Biomedical Lab 2, Anatomy Lab and Cadaver Room.

These four labs are used as optimal as possible; therefore, they can cover the learning process of several basis/disciplines of medical science, which include microbiology, parasitology, clinical pathology, biochemical, pharmacology, physiology (faal), histology, anatomical pathology, anatomy, and skills lab. The following advantages are quoted from various sources:

  1. Microbiology Lab

Microbiology is used for practice or experiment related to microbiology, a branch of biology discipline that specializes in studying small living things (microorganisms, microbes).

  1. Parasitology Lab

Parasitology Lab is used for studying various types of parasites, such as amoeba, protozoa, fungi, and others with the help of a microscope. In addition, medical students can also observe parasite morphology and other examinations related to parasites on pathological and non-pathological samples.

  1. Clinical Pathology Lab

Clinical Pathology is part of clinical medical science studying on diagnostic problems and therapy, as well as observe the form and course of the disease or material originating from a patient. Students will learn the diagnosis, recovery, and prevention of various types of diseases. In general, the examination of the disease is detected based on changes in biochemical processes in the patient’s body. The samples that are generally used for examination in the laboratory are body fluids such as urine and blood.

  1. Biochemical Lab

Biochemical Lab as the basis of medical science is intended to prove the basic of molecular biology in human’s body. Biochemical can be used for clinical science based on the theory and practice.

  1. Pharmacology Lab

Pharmacology Lab is a lab used for conducting the practice and research in pharmacology to observe the effectivity and safety of a product through the activity test and safety of drug compounds. In addition, students also study pharmaceutical pharmacokinetics, the course of drugs after being given into the body undergoes absorption, distribution, metabolism and excretion, with pharmacokinetics it can be seen the course of drugs in the body and their effects.

  1. Physiology Lab (Faal)

Physiology Lab is used for studying the physiological function of human’s body organ through the examination of function of several organs, both using tools and simple experiments related to the material in the running system blocks.

  1. Histology Lab

Histology Lab is a lab which improves education, teaching and research in microscopic of normal tissues and organs.

  1. Anatomical Pathology Lab

Anatomical Pathology Lab is a branch of medical science which involves the study of organ and body’s tissues (cell group). Anatomical Pathology is considered as one of medical diagnostic branches along with radiology and other pathological specialization (such as microbiology and chemical pathology). Anatomical Pathology has the duty of detecting abnormalities in body tissues and screening for a disease.

  1. Anatomy Lab

Anatomy Lab is supporting laboratory for clinical anatomy and physiology lectures to recognize the anatomical structure of the human body according to its original form

  1. Skills Lab

Skills Lab is a laboratory which has function to prepare for clinical skill, communication, physical examination, medical treatment and invasive procedure for medical students during their study in Bachelor program, before getting into the professional education. (Reta)*
