BANDUNG, unpas.ac.id – Universitas Pasundan and UPTD Puskesmas Karangsetra collaborates to improve Standard of Minimum Service (Standar Pelayanan Minimal, SPM) to reduce the risk of both infectious and non-infectious disease within campus.
Through the program “Hebring Bersinar”, health staffs of UPTD Karangsetra Health Center (Puskesmas) conducted health screening for education staff, teachers, and Unpas students at Setiabudhi Campus on Monday, 31 October 2022.
Unpas Vice Rector III Dr. H. Deden Ramdan, M.Si. said that this program is a form of synergistic collaboration between the Division of Student Affairs, Unpas Clinic, Unpas Faculty of Medicine, and UPTD Karangsetra Health Center.
“There are two activities carried out, including health screening and socialization program in showing both infectious and non-infectious disease. The plan is, every six months, it will continue to other campus, as well as collaborate with other health public centre,” he explained.
He also added that health screening is one of Unpas’ attempts to actualize a healthier campus environment, especially in the Covid-19 post-pandemic.
Earl-staged Detection of Infectious and Non-infectious Disease
Counselor and person in charge of the program, dr. Rianuly Ginting Munthe said that health screening needs to be carried out at least once a year to detect trends in the risk of infectious and non-infectious disease.
Screening includes anthropometry (measurement of BB, TB, and LP), Self-reporting Questionnaire (SRQ), detect mental disorders, blood sugar tests, triple tests of infectious diseases (HIV, syphilis, and hepatitis B).
Anthropometric screening is required to determine the participants’ Body Mass Index (BMI) including underweight, normal, overweight, or obese categories.
“We will see the BMI status to what grade, as well as the results of blood sugar tests to see the possibility of hypertension and diabetes mellitus, because both are the highest causes of death in Indonesia,” he said.
Likewise with screening for mental disorders, especially among college students. According to dr. Rianuly, mental health is important to be examined to identify the type of mental disorder and appropriate treatment.
“SRQ instrument is used to measure whether there are emotional mental disorders, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), under the influence of drugs, depression, or others. If these points are found, we will refer them to a psychiatrist or psychologist,” he added.
After screening, the doctor will provide a resume of examinations and recommendations. Doctors also emphasize routine screening without waiting for symptoms to appear. (Reta)**
