BANDUNG, unpas.ac.id – Having proper skill for communication becomes really important these days. Communication is a dynamic process which can give positive influence to our daily life.
Realizing on the importance of having communication skills, Faculty of Social and Political Science (FISIP) Universitas Pasundan holds a training and skill improvement program for Karang Taruna through communication skills.
The community service program (Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat, PKM) which involves teachers and students was held in Desa Mekarwangi, Sindangkerta District, West Bandung District, on Monday, 7 March 2022.
The program included a presentation delivered by Unpas FISIP teacher Dr. Qisty Rabathy, S.I.Kom., M.Si regarding on communication skills and other things which needed to paid attention to when communicating to each other, including verbal, written and non-verbal communication.
“Communication skills are necessarily neede to build and improve quality of organization, especially when it comes to Karang Taruna which has been a place for youth’s guidance and empowerment,” she said.
Members of Karang Taruna Mekarwangi and other officials who attended the program were also prepared by the basics of public speaking and tips how to handle nervousness (stage fright).
“This program becomes the first step for members of Karang Taruna Mekarwangi to build a more confident behaviour in communicating and more skilful to make social relation between other members as well as surrounding community,” she continued.
Communication skills encourage a person to deliver the message properly to the other and express him/herself positively through verbal and written method. By clear communication, someone can avoid and prevent misunderstanding and conflict potential.
Besides delivering short briefing, Unpas FISIP Community Service team also invited social community Bandung Care and Young Jimners Bandung to create a more varied and joyful activity.
“These two communities help carry out teaching activities at SDN Girimukti, interactive question and answer, door prizes, interesting games, donating books, and distributing material assistance to some residents,” he concluded. (Reta)*
