BANDUNG, unpas.ac.id – In the world of business, makloon (English term: custom work/manufacturing fee) system is not something new. This system facilitates individual who does not have skills or production resources, but wants to have his/her own brand.

Makloon system is now already recognized and ran by MSMEs’ businessman. The skills owned by MSMEs becomes a huge potential which needs to be collaborated with the university, especially students since they can create creative industry and new entrepreneur.

This is indeed the thing which becomes the focus of team of Penelitan Terapan Unggulan Perguruan Tinggi (PTUPT) under the supervision of teacher of Business Administration FISIP Unpas Dr. Dindin Abdurohim BS, M.M., M.Si. He and his research team are already designing a model of creative industry by students which is based on makloon system supported by websites and integrated with android application.

To accommodate suggestion about research and media/application being developed, an FGD entitled “Model Industri Kreatif Mahasiswa Berbasis Sistem Maklon untuk Menciptakan Wirausaha Baru di Jawa Barat” was held on Thursday, 28 July 2022.

The discussion presented a keynote speaker from Office of Industry and Trading (Dinas Perindustrian and Perdagangan (Disperindag) for West Java, Office of Cooperative and Small Enterprise (Dinas Koperasi dan Usaha Kecil, Diskuk) for West Java, Council of Local National Craft (Dewan Kerajinan Nasional Daerah, Dekranasda) for West Java, Business Incubator of Higher Education for West Java, teachers and entrepreneur mentors as well.

Making Makloon System More Grounded

Dr. Dindin said that according to the survey carried out previously, there were as much as 67.5% students of Unpas who still run the business as a reseller. Therefore, it is difficult for students to actualize their creativity to be a whole entrepreneur or do the business themselves, both in term of producing products and services.

“We try to introduce this system [makloon] to students. Apart from being more useful, the system can help the business sustainability of MSME’s businessman and make it easier for students who want to have their own brand,” he said.

To make an easier collaboration access between students and MSMEs, he and his research team create a market place digital platform which is based on makloon system, called Babari.id. The platform brings MSMEs as product provider and prospective of new entrepreneur (students or public) all together.

“Babari.id offers a 3R concept: rename, repack and reposition. Let us take an example: to start a snack business, students can buy the product to the MSMEs whose shop is listed in Babari.id, then students can apply the 3R concept to make a new brand, without even bothering to do production process,” he said.

Since the research has been running for three years; after the research result came out, is implemented, evaluated and maintained in the last year, Babari,id prepare three exit plans through the model of B2B (business to business), B2C (business to consumer), dan B2G (business to government).

Speakers presented in the discussion also provided suggestions to perfect both platform and concept of Babari.id makloon system, including those which are related to maintenance, long-term management, Babari.id characteristic highlight – which makes it an educative platform for student entrepreneur, and many more.

Unpas Vice Rector III Dr. H. Dede Ramdan, M.Si, representing Rector of Unpas Prof. Dr. Ir. H. Eddy Jusuf Sp, M.Si., M.Kom., IPU., reviewed that the creation of new entrepreneur by using this kind of business system and MSME’s empowerment is an interesting thing to be followed up. Even more, in the era of Iot, students and teachers are encouraged to improve and develop creative industry to help the nation’s economic condition out.

“It is extraordinary; a positive vibe which becomes a starting point to do various creativities, including to manifest students’ creative ideas to be able to present as a new entrepreneur figure in West Java,” he concluded. (Reta)**
