BANDUNG, unpas.ac.id – Among thousands of Universitas Pasundan alumnus, the name of Ranu Mihardja is probably one of those who have often heard familiarly, especially in the Law field. This class-of-1988 senior alumnus of Unpas Faculty of Law was noted to have struggled at the Corruption Eradication Commission (Komisi Pemberantasan Korupsi, KPK) and filled other positions at the prosecutor’s office.
During his service in the independent institution, he was entrusted to be Member of Corruption Eradication Team (2005-2007), Assistance Team of Legal Mafia Eradication Task Force (2010), Director of KPK Prosecution (2013-2015), Deputy for KPK Enforcement (2015) and Deputy for Internal Supervision and Public Complaints of KPK (2015-2017)
Apart from being serving in KPK, Ranu also pursued his career at the attorney’s office. Starting to serve as the administration staff in State Attorney Office Majalengka in 1989, Head of Bangka Belitung General Attorney’s Office in 2019-2020. Within the office, he is known for his discipline, integrity, firmness, dedication and commitment.
Quoted from bpkp.go.id, in an event of book review “Selaksa Darma untuk Negeri: Kisah Perjalanan Karier Jaksa Ranu Miharja”, he shared his life experience before finally being able to fill various strategic positions in KPK and General Attorney Office.
“Before taking Law Studies in Unpas, I have once studied in Akademi Pariwisata Bandung. Since then, I started my career in a hotel in Bandung. I have been a porter, room service, receptionist, even cashier at Grand Preanger Hotel Bandung,” he said.
To begin working at law enforcement office, at first Ranu was not allowed to become an attorney since his dad did not allow him to be. His dad thought the job was not quite good, especially in the midst of rise of individuals who impose the authority of the law.
However, thanks to his strong determination, Ranu is able to share his valuable experience with the audience right now. He is skilled in handling major cases, despite being faced with various challenges since his career as a prosecutor at the Adhyaksa Corps, being employed at the KPK, and returning to the prosecutor’s office again.
“I am willing to defend my integrity. The main factor of being a leader is the integrity, competence, bravery, and noble-hearted. Without these, a leader will only lead the institution he/she holds to an ending/ disintegration,” he said.
When serving in State Attorney in Bangka Belitung, started from 27 December 2019 until 5 August 2020, Ranu at least has made 73 innovations in his institutions. Although it has been 7 months and 9 days, he succeeded in bringing the office (General Attorney’s Office in Bangka Belitung) more authoritative and increased the public’s sense of trust in law enforcement.
“For more than 7 months working in the office, Alhamdulillah, the society was king. The officers also can understand how to avoid actions leading to a corruption crime,” he explained.
He always emphasized that discipline, integrity and competence are the main basis which needs to be owned by law enforcement officers. No doubt, he was known as a figure who can precisely prove the danger of corruption and authority abuse to the state officers/ apparatuses.
After leading the General Attorney’s Office in Bangka Belitung, Ranu was inaugurated and served his new position as Inspector I for Deputy Attorney General (Supervision of the Indonesian Attorney General) in August 5th, 2020. He consistently echoes all parties so that they can unite to get rid of corruption.
“We should be united in getting rid of corruption, especially when doing the prevention. Getting rid of corruption is not only law enforcement officers’ duty, but also all people have their own role to get rid of it,” he concluded. (Reta)*
