BANDUNG, unpas.ac.id – Towards the end of 2021-2022 management, Student’s Sports Coordinator (Koordinator Olahraga Mahasiswa, KOM) Universitas Pasundan holds a regional basketball competition entitled “The 2022 Unpas Basketball Championship (UBC)” at Sport Arena (Gelanggang Olahraga, GOR) Pajajaran, 19-22 June 2022.
Head of Unpas KOM Nurul Faturohman stated that basketball competition for Junior/High School students in West Java is held to fight for the Governor of West Java Cup, Bandung Mayor Cup, Unpas Rector Trophy and coaching money worth millions of rupiahs.
“This is the first basketball tournament held by Unpas KOM. Last year, we held Unpas Karate Cup Open Tournament which was attended by 391 karateka from all over Indonesia,” said the Head of Unpas KOM, Rafi Nurul Faturohman.
The 2022 UBC will compete 14 men’s basketball team and 9 women’s basketball team. Besides being a competition event, the 2022 UBS is also a place for finding young potentials to obtain more achievement in sports, especially in Bandung.
At the opening ceremony of 2022 UBC, there were many figures attending at, including Head of West Java Perbasi Epriyanto Kasmuri, Division Head of Sports Achievement Improvement Dispora West Java Sandi Arisma, Unpas Head of Student Affairs Bureau R. Hj. Iin Martina, S.H representing Rector of Unpas and few representatives of Deans Staff.
Rafi urged all participants in the 2022 UBC to keep upholding sportsmanship highly and maintain conductivity during the competition. Rafi hoped that the 2022 UBC could become tha event to improve individual’s potentials and skills.
To Be the Event to Create New Young Athletes
Head of West Java Perbasi Epriyanto Kasmuri, in his speech, appreciated the 2022 UBC initiated by Unpas KOM. He also reviewed the achievements of Indonesian Basketball National Team that has successfully won the first gold medal since 1977 at the event of 2021 Event after defeating the Philippines.
“There are West Java athletes sent to represent Indonesia at the 2021 SEA Games. I lay my big hopes on this 2022 UBC, there would be skilled young new athletes who could make both West Java and Indonesia proud, internationally,” he explained.
Head of Division for Sports Achievement Improvement Dispora West Java Sandi Arisma also said similar statement. He thought that a competition is the key to create outstanding athletes.
“The title of ‘General Champion’ held by West Java at PON and Popnas became the individual pride and challenge as well. I believe, that you [junior athletes] can take part in maintaining these achievements and make West Java the centre of national sports,” he said.
Meanwhile, Unpas Head of Student Affairs Bureau R. Hj. Iin Martina, S.H entirely supported the 2022 UBC and Unpas BOM to improve achievements and give birth to new athletes from various branches of sports.
“All committee and staffs have already worked hard. We hope this event could run smoothly and participants joining on it could make their school alma mater proud. Have a good match, stay sportive, and be always successful on behalf of Unpas KOM,” he concluded. (Reta)**
