BANDUNG, unpas.ac.id – Magister of Communication Studies (Magister Ilmu Komunikasi, MIK) Universitas Pasundan has just completed the series of online field assessment in order to carry out the department reaccreditation program. It was held from Thursday-Friday, 16-17 June 2022.
National Accreditation Agency for Higher Education (Badan Akreditasi Nasional Perguruan Tinggi) appointed two assessors of different institutions, namely Dr. Muhammad Sulhan, S.IP., M.Si (Universitas Gadjah Mada) and Dr. Mite Setiansah, S.IP., M.Si (Universitas Jenderal Soedirman).
On the closing of the assessment, the assessors summarized the verification result and provided several recommendations, such as vision and mission, governance, collaboration, curriculum, quality assurance, students, University Tri Dharma, and outcomes of study.
According to Dr. Mite, the positioning and uniqueness of department’s vision and mission have already been in line with the spirit of Unpas as a whole. However, there needs to be the effort to highlight the advantages so that the uniqueness offered can be understood by students, partners, and the general public.
“The administration, governance, and cooperation have gone well, but the uniqueness and points of nyunda, nyantri, nyakola may not be fully understood by partners, even by MIK students themselves,” he said on Friday, 17 June 2022.
Related to the curriculum, it should be an update periodically connected to the vision and mission. It will be the consideration for students before registering.
“Curriculum is our window-front. The course addition should be more daring and specific, so it can be an attractive factor and differentiator of other MIK departments in other universities,” he continued.
Dr. Mite confirmed that the effort of quality assurance still needs our consistence so that teachers are able to find out the quality standard of learning, assessment, research and community service.
“The implementation of quality assurance should be our focus. When the accreditation process gets the C-status consecutively, there would be a nonoptimal quality assurance,” he explained.
As for the aspect of students, he stated, it was beyond expectation. Nevertheless, students should be involved more to understand the actual condition in the department to raise much responsibility and longing.
Personally, human resource’s quality and cognition within Unpas Magister of Communication Studies have also been really great. They only need to push on/ encourage teacher to do the position promotion, certification, and others.
Before signing on the event minute, Director of Unpas Postgraduate Program Prof. Dr. H. M. Didi Turmudzi, M.Si said that he felt different atmosphere than the usual one. Even more, the assessors left him a deep impression and support/feedback to keep fighting for the vision and mission carried by both department and Unpas itself.
“What has been said by Dr. Mite is right. We should update our curriculum and be more daring to take actions suitable to our vision and mission. Thank you for the appreciation. We hope Unpas Magister of Communication Studies would get the best result for the accreditation,” he concluded. (Reta)**
