BANDUNG, unpas.ac.id – Information Technology (IT) is now currently developing: one of which is because of the digitization trends and the more-increasingly popular start-up business and technology-based companies.
These developments make programmers on the rise and much sought after. Unfortunately, the number of qualified programmers is not commensurate with the needs of the industries.
Teacher of Department of Informatics Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Pasundan Sandhika Galih, S.T., M.T. said that these are what makes start-ups and companies willing to give high fees.
“In addition to the small number of human resources, the task of programmers is also very complex and requires skills. It is no wonder that programmer salaries tend to be high,” he said on Monday, 7 November 2022.
Basically, programmers have responsibility to create codes in a term of programming and switch them to a series of instructions which can be followed by computer.
These series of instructions will also create interactions on the application or software which is used on a daily basis.
Sandhika also said that, generally programmers have roles in the process of planning, writing, testing, debugging (trouble shooting), as well as code maintenance.
“In this digital era, the work of programmer sounds really promising since it is mostly hired by companies. Prepared by a skilful ability, whoever can have a career as programmer,” he added.
Skill Required to Have by A Programmer
A skill of working on coding, as he said, was not only needed by a programmer. There are still other professions which require the skill, such as Web Developer, Mobile Developer, Game Developer, and Computer System Engineer.
Sandhika also stated that to become a professional programmer or other profession in IT, there are at least six basic skills required to have.
“It requires computational thinking, problem solving, application testing, debugging (fixing mistakes in codes), teamwork, and patience, of course,” he concluded. (Reta)**
