BANDUNG, unpas.ac.id – Protocol knowledge is necessarily needed by student to face against work sector. Doing protocol aims to get to know more about the regulation and organize it based on the regulation: starting from how to behave, communicate with other people, serving public, as well as arrange various official activities to be able to meet the current standard. Not only to train their cognitive skill, protocol can also add students’ soft skill, especially communication.
Teacher of Department of Communication Studies FISIP Universitas Pasundan Rini Anisyahrini, S.Sos., M.I.Kom. said that to be a great protocol, there are few aspects to be fulfilled, such as knowledge, appearance, and behaviour as well.
“A protocol must have a human relationship knowledge, strong mentality, firm personality, ability to take quick-and-precise decision, skilled, agile, sensitive, respectful, introspective, good looking, to good at dressing according to the atmosphere,” she explained on Friday, 26 August 2022.
Apart from having human relationships knowledge, it is important for a protocol to have knowledge of administration and management elements, supported by good language skills and mastery of new terms.
At the university level, this type of protocol can generally be found in graduation processions, anniversary, inauguration of professors, doctoral promotions, and other official activities.
“In carrying out protocol activities, pay attention to the spatial layout that will be used, the dress code, the ceremonial arrangement (the sequence of activities), the script (regulation of invitations), and the layout (applicable provisions regarding seating arrangements),” he explained.
She added that the role and function of protocol also determine the success of activities carried out by organizations or institutions. The protocol also becomes an inherent part of the activities of the institution/company and give some spirit to the work culture.
To prepare for a seminar, for example, she explained that there are at least four stages that must be considered, namely the orientation stage, preparation stage, implementation stage, and closing stage.
“At the orientation stage, think about the background, goals, benefits, to the possibilities that will occur if the activity is held. Be sure to set up committees, meetings, and develop a budget. During implementation, the room, facilities, and layout must also be appropriate. It will only be accounted for at the closing stage,” she concluded. (Reta)**
